Contrary to some opinions, a fiberglass crack can not be repaired by adding resin or epoxy over the top. Fiberglass parts get their strength from the glass strands embedded in the resin. The first thing to do is research this repair. There are plenty of books and online guides. But, depending on the location, and if it is a structural member, the repair goes something like this. Clean the area first, making sure you remove any dirt, grease or wax. Use a hammer and dolly to "smash" the edges of the fiberglass along the crack, maybe about an inch. Try to only smash the area enough to break up the resin, but leave the fiber strands. Use random fiber mat, not weave in the repair. You will want to use about 3 to 4 layers of mat. Cut each piece slightly larger than the one before so they will overlap and taper out over the damage. Mix up some resin and coat the area to be repaired. Place the smallest piece of mat on the wet resin and roll with a small roller. Add more resin to the repair and place the next largest piece of mat, roll and repeat. Make sure all air bubbles are rolled out. Allow to harden and sand smooth. Most supplies can be purchased from a hardware store or wal-mart. A boating supply store will also carry the supplies, but generally are more expensive. However, sometimes the advice you can pick up at a marina, or boat supply store will be worth the extra cost.
Good luck with the repair.

If it is a small crack you can just brush some of the fiberglass resin on it. If it is a bigger crack you would have to use the fiberglass material on it, then brush the resin on top. I would take it to a professional if it is a big crack. Practice on something else before you put it on your boat!
