lost title at the dmv

It depends on which state you live in. I am guessing that by an older model, you mean like an 80's or older model. If you go to your dmv website (ours is scdmv.org so I am guessing that yours would be your state) you can see how you would have to get a title. SC has you do a VIN search, run an add in the paper, and then you can apply for an abandoned vehicle title. Your state might be different though. If you have a Bill of Sale and do a search by VIN you should be able to get a title for it. Or, your state might not even require a title. In GA, 1975 (I believe that is the year) and older vehicles do not require a title and can be registered without one. The easiest thing to do would be to research on your dmv website and see what they require. Good luck, it might be a pain to get a title for it.

Goto local DMV, and request a replacement title. Will most likely need vin of vehicle, and previous owner to help with their search.

Go to the DMV and tell them....they should have one on file if the car is insured.
