Dearest reader,
Abraham was called a friend of God. They communicated probably voice to voice, as God was quite capable of doing this, especially before the written word.
His obedience was outstanding. God told him to leave his land Ur, now Turkey with his wife Sarai and he left, no questions asked. Actually his name was also Abram and God changed his name also.
Abraham probably believed that God would resurrect his son, Isaac after he had sacrificed him, although he had waited twenty years for the boy to be born to a woman 90 years old. That is why he was stopped at knife point when God called out to him to stop...and provided a lamb in the thicket to sacrifice instead.
God promised Abraham that his descendants would be like the stars in the sky...and the Jewish nation and Christians are!
God bless,
Darcel
