we've been looking at getting the new compass for my first car! =) but iv only seen it come in manual online... so i was wondering if anyone knew if it came automatic? and also im looking at the Saturn VUE- any opinions on that??? THANKS!!!

Yes, and you can get it with a continuously variable transmission - which is a shiftless automatic. Smooth ride. Test drive one!
I went for a test-drive 2 weeks ago when they first came out -- it was the "Sport" model (the Limited isn't out yet) and it was an automatic with CVT - so others are misinformed.

I am doing the same thing. I have a friend with Dodge and he said the Jeep Compass is going to rock. to get the automatic you have to upgrade to the 4x4 Limited model. but with all that you get leather, tire motoring heated seat and I think cup warmers as well. I live in Canada and I built one and converted it to Can $$ and was under 30G after tax..very cheep I wouyld say. It is to be compaired to the Kia Sorintos, same size but better pricing. This is going to to have the same engine as the dodge Calaber..so it will be great on gas. But the Saturn Vue looks good too, I would say its a cheeper unit and doesnt have all the bells and whistles that the compass has but it all depends what your budget allows for right?

Yes it does, I cant believe it comes with a manual trans.
The urban jungle does not count - just because it has a Jeep
badge on it and you can part on the grass at the soccer field.
Get a real Jeep. Not a planet!

i am a jeep person i have had noting but jeeps and i love them and i do think you can get it in a automatic! you will find that the jeep is better made then a saturn vue!

Go to your local jeep dealer more than likely the only ones they have in stock are autos I work for a jeep dealer and usually the first ones to arrive are base automatics.

ooooooooooooooooooooooooooh a compass! I don't get the new generation. Kids in my day laughed at kids driving in funny little station wagon, soccer mother, go get the groceries vehicles. Get a real Jeep and learn how to drive a stick- goober.

Of course it does! It's for wussies! If you want a "Jeep", get a REAL Jeep. that thing is a little Dodge SUV.

YES IT IS A OPTION AND IS A LITTLE EXTRA. BUT AS A JEEP PERSON I HAVE ONED 3 WRANGLERS IN MY LIFE I WILL NEVER OWN ANYTHING BUT A JEEP. THEY BEAT ANY OTHER CAR, TRUCK, SUV,ETC.
