If what Jesus says about prayer in the Bible is true, and if all the stories about medical miracles in inspirational literature are true, and if your belief in God and the power of prayer is true, and if God has a plan for you, then why do you ever need to visit a doctor or go to the hospital? Why don't you simply pray for a cure whenever you get sick?
James 5:15, where the Bible says:
And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise him up.
Keep in mind that these are the words of an all-powerful, all-knowing, perfect God. And James 5:15 is completely unambiguous. If these words are true and perfect, it seems like a faithful person should have no need for health insurance.

What a fabulous question!!
I'm a nurse, & I've been witness to this question in the hospital many times...
I've watched children die because parents believed it was "God's will", when in reality, said children could have been saved by simple antibiotics or minor surgery. Why they even came to the hospital in the first place is a mystery!!!

We Christians are not perfect, and our faith is not always perfect. I believe that the impact of other beliefs are just enough to cause some of us to put our faith into question, which is doubt, and is not absolute faith. In James, it speaks of absolute faith. Learn the Bible, pray for understanding it and applying it in your everyday life, then you too (with perfect faith) will no longer need the likes of hospitals. Faith is not just wanting to believe, it is believing, so if you don't believe, you may never know. Read the Bible for the intent to find answers you may have in your life instead of seeking a method to mock it.

There are times when a blessing works but your faith must be exceedingly great and the faith of the priesthood holder just as great. None of us are perfect and are at different levels of our maturity in faith, always striving to grow but never quite making it to perfection. After we have done all that we can do for ourselves God steps in and helps us if we ask him to do so, and that is if it is in his eternal plan for our betterment. He put us here to help one another and has given the medical personnel the knowledge and talent to help in the healing arts.

hmm i never thought of it that way, but having all these things liek a hospital and insurance i feel is a blessing from God to have the experience, i mean a lot of people dont have these opportunities, i look at health insurance, just for money i guess to be able to pay for things and not have to put burden on others because we do live in an unperfect, money driven world. But yeah i guess through it all, God is my main provider!

First off; I am not a member of any cult. I am a firm believer in God's healing and have had a first hand experience with it. I was healed of cancer .
Second of all : Remember Luke the Great Physician ( also a disciple in the bible ). Yes, God can heal as he did with me but also God uses Doctors to heal us also. God uses many people for many different purposes.

Great question !! If Jesus can heal the sick and raise the dead, then why are people lacking in faith and relying on insurance and doctors? If it was good enough in the days of Jesus, then what about now? Furthermore, why do they try to convert us to their beliefs if they cannot prove their theories?
PHYSICIAN, HEAL THYSELF:
Luke 4:23. And he said unto them, Ye will surely say unto me this proverb, Physician, heal thyself: whatsoever we have heard done in Capernaum, do also here in thy country.

I have great health insurance. I recently qualified for it a week before I found out I was pregnant. Almost my whole life I never had health insurance and I NEVER got sick. God took care of me. But he also knew what was best for me and my baby that's why I believe I got it right when I did. He takes care of you when you believe.

This shows that you don't know Christ. You are attempting to misuse scripture the same way that Satan did when he recited scripture to Christ. He took Jesus up to the highest part of the temple and told him to jump because it is written that God would direct his angels to lift him up so that he would not strike his foot on the rocks. Jesus replied that it is written "Do not put your Lord to the test"
You have basically rephrased the same thing into modern terminology. We are thankful that God has provided a way for us to provide for our family in the event of our death and that he has given us doctors, nurses etc. to help heal us.
Nice try, try again

You're free to choose. Freedom is probably the highest value man has at the face of God. If you jump out of a cliff, do you think that God will protect you? Do your insurance and don't abuse His name.

Sing it brother! Christians are all hypocrites just paying lip service because they don't know what else to do with themselves. Their god is a imaginary best friend or daddy to talk to and not feel alone while they obey and don't have to make decisions or feel responsible for anything. That's as far into the mental process as they get. They never notice that NOTHING EVER HAPPENS, and never question big daddy's authority. They're slaves, both to religion and to society. Whatever they need to survive they'll do it without thinking. Lack of thought, that's the real problem.
