Safe mode is used for troubleshooting and is recommended when you are scanning for malware, spyware and other possible infections. In safe mode, the icons and fonts are larger and there is limited display. But you must always reboot to normal mode after that since it is under normal mode that you can access all your programs and applications; just click on START, TURN OFF COMPUTER, RESTART.

Safe modes doesn't load custom configurations. Because the reason you have to use safe mode might just be because the custom configuration doesn't work. Safe mode is simply the way to get into windows when your settings are messed up. Windows doesn't load those settings in safe mode, that's why safe mode then works. From safe mode you can go back to a previous configuration of your windows settings, chose one from before the problems in the normal windows and usually you will be able to get into your normal windows mode again.

reboot your machine in normal mode

Safe mode always looks a little wonkey, because it basically "dumbs down" your system and gives you just enough access to go in and fix what might be causing a problem. Reboot and you should be fine. Safe mode is NOT meant to be your normal operating mode
