What does a puppies heartbeat sound like in a pregnant dog?

I have a pregnat cockerspaniel and I m trying to listen to the puppies heartbeats so I can tell how many there are. does anyon know what their heart beat sounds like? The ones I hear sound like a drumming sound Like Boom Boom. Not sure if thats mommas or babies. Thanks

She's in her last week. I can hear heartbeats but not sure if there hers or the babies. I hear two. One on each side towoards the bottom of her tummy.

Puppy heartbeats are very hard to hear until late in the pregnancy and you probably won't get an accurate count. However, it is a great tool to use (listening for heartbeats) to make sure all the live puppies are delivered. If you want a more accurate count, get an x-ray done.
