Do you think everything is trivial compared to heaven?
The secretary of the interior, jim baker, (the guy in charge of the environment under the reagan administration) said "who cares about the environment.... Jesus is coming back any day now!!" or something to that affect.
How about helping to make the world a better place for humans, instead of keeping your eyes fixed on heaven?

Anyone more concerned about heaven than earth should let those who are concerned handle it.

Yes, this is the real trouble with all religions that stress an afterlife. If heaven is so great and the world is just an illusion or a test, then why give a darn about anyone or anything except doing what it says in the Bible?

And so many people are wasting their lives and endangering ours through their blind faith and outdated and harmful acts. Sure it was good to persecute homosexual acts for the Ancient Hebrews because they were trying to increase their population so they could attack more of their neighbors and move into richer lands than their traditional wandering the Sinai Peninsula. But for some reason people still look at the ancient book and think those rules should apply now and forever. Just because they wrote that "god said it." How gullible do you have to be?

Watching the skies can neither prevent you from noticing your neighbor nor can make you prepare for the coming of Christ. Because as said in the Bible, the coming of Christ shall be in a twinkle of an eye; like the thunder and the lightening. It happens so suddenly and would be seen by any one on the planet not only for those who are watching the skies. You could however watch the skies by learning Astronomy and contemplate the wonder of God and His creation; that would be a great hobby for you and for your soul to grow in knowing how great our Lord is.

Thanks for your comment.

The debate between the focus on personal salvation and social justice has been a point of contention since the time of the Apostles during the early Church. Dissension over this point gave rise to Protestantism in the 1500s. This is why that you may be aware that charity is not a strong point among most Protestant sects (except Amish, Mennonites, Quakers, Salvation Army). Protestants who do are charitable do so because they are aware of the dissonance of praying but doing nothing. Conservatives, and compassionate conservatives do notice their neighbours are in need. They may even pray for them too (former President Clinton even had a quote about them too, but I cannot find the source quickly for this reply). But it stops there. Give to the needy? No way! Allow tax money to be used to advance social justice? NO! WAY!

i'm watching and prepared patiently. The Lord Jesus advised us God would supply us indications of His go back. I have considered the indicators, this is not yet time. through your posts it really is sparkling you do not understand scripture so why teach your lack of information? it really is likewise made sparkling that you mock God and derive excitement from doing so. Your folly will be your undoing. i'd urge you to repent and change out of your blunders yet i think as even with the undeniable fact that it might haven't any outcome yet although, repent besides.

That is a great question. Revelation says I am bringing to ruin all those ruining the earth.
Do you recycle? Do you throw garbage along the road?
God likes cleaniness. His beautiful earth is being destroyed.
Does anyone care??? It doesn't have to be a big thing there is things we can do. Walk to school, don't make your parents take you. Car pool to work and set an example for your children.
Better still we wouldn't have so many fat Americans and congested highways if people started riding a bike.
Get your fat butt on a bike!! save our enviroment. Before it is to late.

Some of us are just wanting to go home. We are killed our environment to such an extent that it will take a lot to fix it. According to Bible prophecy, the generation that saw Isreal rise to a nation (happened in 1948) will not pass before Christ returns. It's coming soon and some of us just can't wait. I'm one fo those, I'll admit, but I'm looking around at how I can help while waiting to hear the trumpet. That's when I look up to the sky.

Yeah! I must confess that ALL things are trivial when compared to eternal heaven.
But it is also important to note that as long as we remain on planet earth, God has given man power of dominion. Hence there must be a balance here.
Actually, you ain't supposed to fix your eyes on heaven, but rather on Jesus Christ because he is the author and finisher of our faith! Remember Jesus has the interest of making this world a better place, and this interest transends to every one with his/her eyes fixed on Jesus!
But you must also remember that there's just a limitation to how much we can change this dying world. The entire world is a JUNK! Why? because Junk is the name giving to those things that are kept for later destruction.
My advise is for you to live your life in full, shining as lights on planet earth in service, but never loosing focus of your eternal destination!

I don't think the Bible asked us to be sky watchers. Sky watching for Jesus' return is futile since no one except the Father knows when Jesus is coming back. We have to live every day as if it was our last doing exactly what Jesus placed us in this earth for - to show His love to our neighbors.

I think we must view different faiths as religious mythology. I don't wait for JC. I hope nobody replies w/ some sort of scripture babble. Plus, I "pray" that US government isn't overrun by Jesus-freaks. How can we have a separation of church and state, if the state's leaders are religious? Word Up!

Where did you get this? I really doubt that he ever said anything to that effect. This reeks of a bunch of liberals trying to rewrite history and attempting to paint Christians as uncaring. Nothing could be further from the truth. Questions like this reflect that many atheist don't have a clue about where so many of the privileges they enjoy come from.
