No I dont. I dont live in Britain at the moment, but feel its so sad, when I think of how free I felt as a child... I mean even then I sometimes felt a bit paranoid walking home from my friends house... (I feel that where I am now too as an adult, but is similar to those childhood feelings, as opposed to the much more scared feelings I get when Im in Britain now...) So in the past think it was mostly just my personality and at least we were able to play outside and come home whenever we liked.... in the 'good old days'... I do wonder though if it is really unsafer than usual.... or just because we get more scared by the media....

Are you asking regarding terrorists? yes I feel safe you need to be very unlucky to be hit, so I am still going to fly catch trains and buses with out any fear at all.

Do I feel safe walking down the street in the day? again yes I feel safe.

Do I feel safe at night? depends on who is around 99% of the time yes I do feel safe.

The only times I may not feel safe are if Drug users are getting a little loud. teenagers are getting drunk in groups, and the worst of all is driving to work on a Sunday when all the old loonys are aiming there cars at people.

Nobody is safe in Britain. They're so tied up in their endless laws in the politic areas that the country is coming down in a heap.

Definitely .... and that's not just based on the experiences of my family, friends and acquaintences

The British Crime Survey for 2005/6 states:

"..........The risk of becoming a victim of crime has fallen from 40 per cent at its peak in 1995 to 23 per cent according to BCS interviews in 2005/06, representing just over six million fewer victims. This is the lowest level recorded since the BCS began in 1981...."

I'd feel a lot safer if the 'Law' allowed me to defend me and mine; it seems a burglar has more rights than a householder, an assailant more rights than a victim. A person convicted of a crime against person or property should not be able to sue the victim - they deserve whatever they get!

Reasonably so but do not have the freedom to be spontaenous and have to think about how to get home safely, lock the house up properly at night, set the burglar alarm etc. etc.

Do any members of our glorious government read this site do you think?

When i was young...i'm 50 now...i used to go in to the woods and play with my friends all day and only go home for meals. My mum never worried about me. I would never allow my children or grandchildren out of my sight for a minute in this day and age. I am even nervous walking my dog in the woods or ruraly alone and never go out after dark on my own. How things have changed.....
