I think it means it in a aaah bless cute kind of way! Mine didn't sleep either. Other great ones are sleeping like log, when did you ever see research to suggest logs actually sleep. One of those daft old sayings. Babys probably used to sleep well years ago, when they gave them laudanum to make them sleep.

It probably came from someone who had a baby like my daughter, I used to have to wake her to feed & change her & then put her back to bed. Nobody knew the colour of her eyes she slept so much. Or from someone who visited new parents. Isn't it always the case that no matter how hard you try to get your baby to sleep, they won't drop off until 1 minute before somebody visits to see the new baby?

lol because when they do finally get to sleep - they will sleep in the position u put them in - so if it is flat on their face - they will sleep that way (but it is not a good idea) - and they will go to sleep forever (well a long time). Good luck on trying to make yours sleep.

when we use these term it means sleeping tension free

it meens while a baby is sleeping they look so peaceful and cuddly. that's basically it.
