Being a scout leader before we know it cookies will be here. What is your favorite? Mine was the low fat apple but those are long gone. Now I have to say the Do-Si-Dos.

In reply of two responses-----Yes I myself have heard of leaders that take profits from the troop. They should be arrested for that. I am not one of them. I try to help my troop earn as much money as they can through out the year. As far a the response of a rip off---well I agree with you there. I am not happy to be paying $4 a box and only get a dozen cookie. But then again I buy at least a dozen boxes a year. Half the time I give them away. I buy them to help out the girl scouts. That is their biggest fund raiser of the year. This is where most of the money comes from to go on trips, camping and lots of other stuff.

Thin Mints; The ones that are oatmeal cookies with peanut butter creme in between the cookies; I think I like Do-Si-Dos (not sure if that is the one that I described); There's some shortbread ones and then there are some with coconut, caramel and chocolate on top of the cookie.
I have always loved Girl Scout cookies. I'll still buy them even though they've recently raised the price but it was the old price for a very long time so that's good.

My GF requested these and I was lucky enough to find this recipe online. It is WONDERFUL, a really good knock-off of the real cookies. He was THRILLED with the results. (Prep time allows for time needed to toast coconut in the oven).
1 box shortbread cookies (I used Lauryn Clark's copycat recipe for the Girl Scout shortbread cookies--just cut them out so tha)
6 tablespoons butter
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup light corn syrup
1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
4 cups toasted coconut
1 cup chocolate chips
24-30 cookies (depending on size of cookies) Change size or US/metric
Change to: cookies (depending on size of cookies) US Metric
35 minutes 15 mins prep

Girl scout cookies are a rip off not only to the consumer but to the girls who sell them. You guys do not get nearly enough of the profits from selling the cookies as you deserve. What happened to making your own cookies and selling them? You're just making the company that produces them richer.

Samoas (is that how you spell it?) Thin mints are okay too but I'd rather spend $3 on samoas.
