what if i came up and just complimented the melon they picked from the case in the produce section. i could say something like, nice melon you got there.
would it work? do women like grocery store pick up lines?
what about at the gas station? i could say something like, let me pump you full. would that work?

Thanks for the laugh, but those lines might get you hit with a shopping cart or a purse.
It's ok to talk to girls, women, men , kids at a grocery store.
One of the best ways is to stand by produce or something else and look perplexed and say ,to the first girl or women you think looks interesting who comes along , hi, could you help me here I can't decide which..... to pick?Do you know how to tell if it's ripe?
If they're not rushing home or too harried they might start up a conversation with you. Just don't follow them around the store afterwards , they will think you're weird. Hope that helps.

I personally detest grocery store pick-up lines, and if you came up to me at a gas station and said that, I'd think you were a total creep. If you want to strike up a conversation with someone, pick something real to talk about. Or if you insist on a pick-up line, be as straight-forward as possible, like "Hi, I really want to meet you. Can I buy you a coffee or something?"
I know it's hard to meet someone at the grocery store, etc, because most people are like me - they're just going about their business, and don't want to be hassled. Try online dating. That's what I did instead, for that very reason. It works much better, because the people on Match.com (or wherever) *want* you to hit on them.

everyone knows grocery stores get girls hot and bothered [in the good sense of the world] [haha i sound like an old lady] if you are asking if it would be okay for you to do this then i see nothing wrong with it. she would more than likely find it flattering even if it was *gasp* at gas station. so to answer your question: yes. yay for the produce boy : )

I think anything that sounds like a pick up line anywhere would probably get you at best a dirty look. But if you wanted to just start a honest conversation then that might work.
Women don't like to be picked up they like to be swept off their feet.

I suppose as long as you don't go up to them and say you're looking for some fresh meat.
The pump you up idea at the gas station might be tacky.

These are perfectly fine places to approach girls, better than bars, in fact, but the double entendres have to go unless you are looking for "that type" of girl.

I don't care if you were the smoothest talker in the universe, if you resemble anything like that avatar, you would have a better chance trying to walk on water

Double entendre can get you laughs, frowns, and occasionally a phone number.
Try not to be so goofy, it makes you look desperate.

It's the best place to talk to a female. It shows your domestic side.
