Sometimes, you can apologize for hurting the other's feelings. A lot of arguments come from misunderstanding the other person, or from not taking into account what they are saying. Once the argument is over and you've made your point, you can go back and talk about it in a more relaxed way. Try to understand what the other meant, take into account his/her feelings. etc.

No, it certainly is not trying to start up an argument. BUT, if one where to say "I am sorry, but if you hadn't.." it is not in complete honesty, and thus will probably lead back to the argument. Remember that whenever you apologize, it should come from your heart and not just spoken in hopes of resolving the fight and getting on with life. Such apologies accepted do tend to hurt more than help.

Some people just can't let go and think they are right no matter. Apologizing to them will only start the fight back up again.

Apologizes are crucial for a lasting relationship. If issues aren't resolved or if one or both are left with hurt feelings, resentment will build. Relationships don't usually end over one major thing it's usually many little things build up into one giant piece of

Its never wrong to apologize. Sometimes it just takes better timing. Perhaps this person wasn't ready to forgive you or hadn't come to terms with the issue just yet themselves.

As long as it's a sincere apology, it isn't. Sorry to hear that question - my ex-husband would never accept apologies. That sucks.

obviously, the other person doesn't believe your apology was sincere. At that point, I'd be telling them how far to shove their stupidity.
