What if you're not the 80% who dies slowly? You have no guarantee of that.
Also, in order to ask Jesus in your heart...you have to do it sincerely, not as just a safety shield...there has to be sincerity.

I was brought up Jewish, very spiritual now, but against religion. However, I do not judge others that choose a faith that helps them today. The problem is fundamental Christians believe they have the truth and everyone else is wrong. You cannot believe that Jesus is your savior unless it is in your heart and soul.
Forget about what people tell you. If you believe in God, put your faith in a superior power, and strive to make each day better. The rest is not within our control. There is really no prove that a heaven or hell exist. So always do your best, be impeccable in your word, and be who you are, with compassion for all.
Too many people use Jesus as an excuse that they can do as they please and all will be forgotten. They do not live by example. Why worry about tomorrow, when today has a lot of work to be done! We can use Jesus' life as an example, but everything written about him was after he died. I choose to try to make today better, and what will be will be. Be well, each day!!

I'd love to play some high-stakes poker with you, bud. No offence, but you're a terrible gambler. It's too easy to see what kind of hand you're holding. If it's this easy for me without even ever seeing you face-to-face, you're not going to fool God or Jesus or Allah or Jehovah or Khali or Buddha or whoever's tending that Light at the End of the Tunnel.
No matter what religion or non-religion you belong to, you can't just be a total heathen and butt-wipe all your life and expect a few insincere muttered words at the end to wipe all that out. And that's assuming you don't die suddenly, or freak out at the end when you know it's coming and forget to pray. Like I said, a terrible gambler.
"Heaven" isn't the lottery, where maybe there's a one in twenty million chance you can be a loser all your life and hit the bigtime all at once. In the Hereafter, you ALWAYS get exactly what you paid for.
My advice is to try to always put at least a little more in the Bank than what you Take Out, and, yes, it does pay Interest and Dividends.
Peace and love.

even the bible says,
BIBLE - JAMES 2:26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.
=========================
"Christ the son of Mary was no more than an Messenger; many were the Messengers that passed away before him. His mother was a woman of truth. They had both to eat their (daily) food. See how Allah doth make His signs clear to them; yet see in what ways they are deluded away from the truth!" QURAN (5:75)
Prophet Muhammad a.s. said.
"If anyone TESTIFIES THAT NONE HAS THE RIGHT TO BE WORSHIPPED BUT Allah Alone Who has no partners, and that Muhammad is His Slave and His Apostle, and that Jesus is Allah's Slave and His Apostle and His Word which He bestowed on Mary and a Spirit created by Him, and that Paradise is true, and Hell is true, Allah will admit him: into Paradise with the deeds which he had done even if those deeds were few." (Junada, the sub-narrator said, " 'Ubada added, 'Such a person can enter Paradise through any of its eight gates he likes.") Vol 4, Book 55. Prophets.Hadith 644. (Shahi Bukhari)

actually i think the way you worded this question ,,you know better than this ,, you act as if you might know some of the bible, so,,, you have read that the thief on the cross was able to repent to Jesus and went to Heaven ,,,but the thief had all the qualities of becoming saved,,, number on he knew he was a sinner and number two , he knew that Jesus was the Christ, and number 3 he knew he deserved to die and go to hell, ,,,,,,,,, for godly sorry works repentance and a person must be drawn by God,but if a person lives a life like you described ,,,,, the odds of him being drawn by God to even be saved is slim,,,but with God all things are possible,,, but better watch,,, God said all day i had my hand stretched out to a gainsaying people and they would not,, so when your calamity comes ill laugh at you,,,,,,i called and you refused so when your sorrows come ill mock you..

I believe LOTS of people would disregard God if what you said was true.Fortunately, I'm 100% sure that your reasoning is not legitimate. Read the scriptures below if you want to know why.
Therefore, if one KNOWS how to do what is right and yet does not do it, it is a sin for him.
James 4: 17
For if we practice sin willfully after having received the accurate knowledge of the truth, there is no longer any sacrifice for sins left,
Hebrews 10: 26
God's not an idiot. He knows how we tick. There are NO loopholes around his requirements . Therefore, if we know what we should be doing all our life and we don't----- NO "last minute prayer" will save us.
Side note : Would YOU forgive ME if I PURPOSELY whacked you upside the head and then AFTERWARDS said....."Forgive me,I'm sorry"???????

Being a Christian isn't a negative thing. In fact, I am MUCH happier and more at peace now than ever. There are no "rules" for being a Christian that are like slavery. Being a Christian only means that you
1- know you are a sinner (we all are!)
2- Believe the Jesus died for your sins and paid them for you
3- Ask Jesus to come in and save you from hell by becoming Lord of your life.
Try it today. And really mean it.
And then see if you aren't much happier.
Would hate for you to die in a tragic car accident with OUT 1 minute to spare - and have to live in Hell for eternity. When you can make a decision now and know -that you know -that you know ....that you'll be in heaven...

What an interesting idea. So, if you die in a sudden car crash, what is your plan for that?
My answer, having been a Christian for most of my life, is that, "Yes, even if I knew I would get that last chance to pray, I would still choose to serve the Lord now."
The benefits of being a Christian in this life far outweigh the sacrifices. Life is often difficult and we face many challanges. I walk in peace and confidence during those times because I know that Jesus Christ is with me. I have taken the time ( great deal of time, unlike many of those who seem to answer your question without any thought at all) to study what the Bible teaches about life, God, purpose and eternity.
I have also read much of what has been said about the meaning of life by great philosophers, such as Voltaire, Plato, Descartes, Kirkegard, and others. I have read the Koran (many years ago), spoken at length with friends who are Bhuddist, have a father who is an athiest and humanist and dsiscussed with professors who are, at best, agnostic.
In the end, I have realized that Jesus Christ's claims are unique and are not limited to eternity. They are for here and now. Let me give you one example:
A number of years ago, when my son was only 2 years old, he fell out a third floor window. He landed, head first, on concrete. On the way to the hospital, as my dying son lay in the ambulance, I prayed a very simple prayer. I didn't ask God to spare him. I simply said, "Lord, he belongs to You. He always has, whether you take him now or heal him now, I trust You!"
Later, when our pastor joined us (my wife and I) in the emergency waiting room, he expressed to us that he didn't know what to do for us. He told us that every other time he was with parents in a similar situation they were panicked and upset. Instead, he found us at peace, with a sense of the presence of God's Holy Spirit all around.
My son survived, which the doctors called miraculous. Even if he had not, that sense of peace and comfort that comes from the Holy Spirit's presence was ours.
Had I waited until moments before I die to ask Jesus to save me, I would never have known that peace. I could tell you hundreds of similar stories in my life and others. I could share with you about times when a simple prayer, asking for provision resulted in bags of groceries. I could tell you about people in great need, with every need met.
It is enough to tell you that although I have often failed him in the last fifty years, Jesus has never failed me!

You will live your life to your own moral code. Your belief should not change that to any great extent. You are who you are.
I am not religious so I'm not up on the whole shebang, but I would think that praying would not work unless you actually believed and let him into your heart. It seems at the moment you have no faith therefore you don't believe so God (and Jesus) disappear in a puff of logic.
So...unless your thinking also changes...I'll see you in hell. I'll bring the salsa and you can bring the corn chips!

Hello creamy.. :)
Yes..
I would, not change my walk with the Lord for anything that man could offer me..because I once trusted in myself and men for answers and happiness for my life to be fulfilled..but there was always an emptiness deep within, that could not be filled up with money, sex, drugs and or material things..
Not until I asked Jesus to forgive me of my sins, did I find the emptiness I carried within my heart for so many years, was finally gone..Jesus had put in it's place True Happiness, Joy, Peace, Kindness, Gentleness and Most of All Love....
Why would one want to go back feeling sad and alone, when one can be set Free from their bondage and baggage that was such a burden to bear..
For Whom the Son hath set Free is Free Indeed..
In Jesus Most Precious Name..
With Love..In Christ.. :)

Got it all figured out, have you? Go for it!!!
You will go Home no matter what...you have no where else to go...You chose to come here in this lifetime to accomplish spirit growth...we do this by being human... experiencing all that is here, the situations we are placed in, the decisions we make to those respects, the people we meet & greet along the way & how we treat them, as well as ourselves.
Jesus led his life to example a highly learned master of life & love of both here & Home...He exampled the fact that we are not in reality here, but that we are undying entities of an unconditionally loving Godhead...this was his purpose, and he served it well....period.
