Besides the really famous places, what are some great places to visit in Rome in August?

I'm going tomorrow, and I have a list of the most famous places, but do you know any less well known but great attractions in the center of Rome? Also, are there any cheaper restaurants you recommend?

Also, do you know any good review websites for Roman attractions?
