By not closing this loophole, the federal government in effect rewards law-breakers and punishes those who have chosen to follow the rules and immigrate legally. Allowing illegal aliens to give birth to American citizens, in effect, makes citizenship a license for welfare.
I don't care what nationality people are. I do care that people think this is acceptable behavior. What are your thoughts?

Mexican Cat, you know more about this issue then I can imagine anyone understanding it. I do see your point and I would agree that our federal government does indeed reward those that break the laws. I am sure it is not intentional, it is just turning out to be. I know that I just barely skimmed the surface on that. ..

I believe you are right. I have seen on the news that some who came the right way are grouping together in protest. I would be offended too if I were them. And all the people still waiting on the list should be too.
And yes this giving birth and getting citizenship is baloney--if I have a kid while on vacation-does that mean they have to support it? What other country does that?
Nice post Cat.

I know that the Laws are very hypocrits, and I am not sure yet what to think, abiut Illegals. I understand your position ( I assume you immigrated legaly ! ), but all I see is that the policy are made by the Elite, and the elite want it like that
"Aliens" are the base of US economy.
No "Aliens" or Africa/China/India slaves, no USA....or really poor USA..The elite want it like that.
Usually, they dont have really good conditions my doing it illegaly. But it is better than what they would have got, far better...
And they pay taxes, just no income end year tax. Which is totally illegal, by the way, according to Constitution.
Keep investigating, it is a very hypocrit situation, and I think we are manipulated to make thing happend this way.

The pro-criminal crowd has no respect for country and law. Just look at two facts. 1) the laws they're breaking here and 2) the corruption in the country the left.

The current administration has pretty much firmly established that it has no respect for the rule of law.
That being said, Section 1 of the 14th Amendment is not a loophole. But if you want to try changing it, go ahead. I'd be curious to see how you plan to correct the so-called problem without causing massive complications in other things. But if you want to bounce ideas, I'd be happy to help you work on it.

Not acceptable. All my European anscestors became citizens, but my Native American ones (Narragansett tribe, NY, 24 beads and all that) didn't, though!

I think your are completely correct and do be a citizen at least one of your parents should have to be a citizen. At least if you come back and get caught again it is a felony.
