Anxiety, stress...all kinds of things. There must be something weighing heavily on your mind. It wouldn't hurt to go to the doctor and tell him.

A rapid heart-rate is called tachycardia (tacky-car-dee-uh). If it's pounding really heard, that's called palpitations (pal-pit-ay-shuns).
Both tachycardia and palpitations are common in several conditions -- some severe, some not. Try to calm down -- anxiety will often raise your heart-rate. High blood pressure can also cause this -- there are more serious illnesses associated with these symptoms. If this continues, it's best to see your doctor for an evaluation.

Some medication will cause that, for instance, decongestants. If you're not taking anything like that, I'd suggest talking to your doctor.
