QuietWalker is right while the sun is not around (at night say it's not around or in long winter months) we get the little bit of oxgen Earth can get during daylight and during bright, summer and the Plant life utilizes it mostly since it's from the PLANTS that EARTH gets most of it's oxygen "the reason we have so much oxygen in our atmosphere — and we are here and can breathe it! — is due to plant life on the earth!" in a process called PHOTOSYNTHESIS:
"The oxygen released (with water vapor, in transpiration) as a photosynthetic byproduct, principally of phytoplankton, provides most of the atmospheric oxygen vital to respiration in plants and animals, and animals in turn produce carbon dioxide necessary to plants."
That is the one earth's natural "cycles" (ie like the Water cycle) Photosyntheis: Plants give off Oxygen so we can breathe and we give off our Carbon Dioxide back to them so they can grow...it's a cycle.

Sunlight reacts with the chlorophyll in plants. This is photosynthesis. The chlorophyll in the plant absorbs CO2 (carbon dioxide). The C (carbon) is metabolized in the plant and the O2 (oxygen) is emitted. No sunlight, no photosynthesis, no chlorophyll, no oxygen. Goodnight.

For awhile untill it is all used up and the trees die. Trees and plants create oxygen, they use sunlight and co2 for photosynthesis to create new plant cells, and ummm well they basically eat co2 and **** oxygen. With no sun they die, and create no oxygen.
