it is interesting reading opinions that claim Hitler did not declare war against the Jews, so that was murder (if you read Mein Kampf, it is hard to come to that conclusion, btw).
Presumably, a country declaring war absolves the soldiers of religious guilt.
So 25,000 dead Iraqis at the hands of (presumably) Christian soldiers is okay? Jesus said it's okay?

Farkas: He was talking about taxes. A bit of a stretch to suggest that also applies to killing others, given all the things Jesus said about 'turning the other cheek'.

Amazing how many of you avoided answering the question directly.
Not easy to defend Christianity and War in the same breath, is it?

JC said, Do to others as you would have them do to you. Love everyone as you love yourself. On this hang the whole rest of the law of moses.
Condone killing?
If your cheek is struck, present to them your other cheek that they may strike it also.
Nailed to a cross, dying a painful death. "Father, forgive them for they know not what they do."
Some of the only true Christians I know of are the Quakers, noted for pacifistic protesting, and being against every violent action this country has ever taken. They will not serve the war machine in anyway, not even as medics.

When you has to die to convince others that they are wrong?, don't you think it will be okay for the same person to say that?, But, I don't think Jesus said that anywhere. Although I can easily give you a sample that now a day's can be seeing as a metaphor of what is right to do, when it comes to take someone else life for a cause. Hezbollah fighters are dying just to keep the Jew's occupied with something other than expanding more negativity and evil around the World. As well to prove then that since they betray Jesus to save a well known assassin, (Barabbas) and because of this, they are no longer the elected race. but that they can't believed, nor they can accept that God will pay then with the same coin, which they paid Jesus. This because they know, that it will take a lot for then to enter in the world of Heaven, if they don't decide to become Christians. This you may don't see yet though its what is coming. perhaps not to long from to day, some one will begin to kill more Jew's to accomplish the prophecies that say even the death will become a life in the second coming.

Formal declarations of war are legal things that have legal paper trails. Mein Keimpf is a personal manifesto, not a legal declaration of war.
A country declaring war does not absolve soldiers of guilt if the soldiers murder. If the soldiers kill, there is no guilt. Murder and killing are different things.
The dead Iraqis are dead because of Christian soldiers, Muslim soldiers, Jewish soldiers, atheist soldiers, and all manner of soldiers and civilians, foreign and domestic. As far as whether the Christian soldiers are guilty of murder, it depends on whether or not they murdered. Murder is a willful action born out of evil intention. Killing because you are legally obligated by your country to kill--and when you have no evil and murderous thoughts toward the people you kill--is not murder.
Jesus didn't say anything about war. Jesus' father is the one who gave the commandment not to murder. Jesus' job was to save humanity, not to make laws of existence in God's universe.

Whether you agree with the war or not, try to show some respect for our troops who are there and are dying along with the Iraqis. I have a family member who is in the Army and some friends also, and even though I don't agree with what is going on, I pray every day for them. For what they go through each and every day over there is the same things that great soldiers in the past have gone through to give you the freedom to ask such stupid questions. Try and appreciate it.

I don't know what opinions you are referring to in regards to Hitler. He murdered Jews by any measure. Jesus said to give to cesear that which is Cesear's. I believe this also means our service, not just our money. So our soldiers are required to serve their country by obeying our leaders. Our people are required to choose leaders who will try to obey God.
As for the 25k dead Iraqis. I don't know how many of them died "at the hands" of Americans or how many were killed by the enemy. Either way, your question seems to be did Jesus say that Christians are allowed to kill or did he say that we are not allowed to kill. Whether it is 1 or 25k it is still the same question, right.
Read Mt 10:34 "I have not come to bring peace but a sword". The Prince of Peace brings us peace between us and the Father, but he also brings conflict between his followers and evil.
Also read Romans13:4 ."...he does not bear the sword for nothing...". Here we are told that authority has been established in the hands of God's servants, as agents of wrath to bring punishment on the wrongdoer. I hope we are not often the wrongdoer. We know that in the past he used armies of "extremely bad people" to punish "moderately bad" people. So it may be that we could lose a war to people who are more evilt han us. I chose the term "bad people" because none of us are good. In truth, any theoretical difference between the two types would be nothing compared to the difference between all of us and Christ.
This is not pleasant stuff to deal with. Most prefer the touchy feely parts of the bible. But this is just as important. hope this helps.

Jesus wont condone anything except his holy worship. That is true. If you have no trial and no evidence against a wrongdoer then it is murder plain and simple so yes they will be held accountable. I am not responsible for the bloodshed thank goodness and god. Bush may very well be along with others a war criminal.

I am always in wonder at us, in our "civilized" lifetimes here, that we turn to God & Jesus to blame or give the okay to such atrocities that humanness created, not them...We waylay our common sense to any other person who will edit, & point to lines out of thousands, from a single text to justify such stupidity on our parts.
"We The People" are solely responsible for the actions of our governing wonders...WE keep them in power, we vote them there, we cowtow to their every whim with the notion that our voices are meaningless...We are that which is being controlled & manipulated because WE allow this.
A country declaring war does not absolve anyone of the guilt that encompasses killing others...it is a personal feeling that the drives our spirit Selfs crazy, and so, too, many of the human minds that they live in....however, these brave souls are doing their job...just like the rest of us...whether ethical or not...they must follow orders or not be in that job...just like the rest of us...See?
Now as far as Hitlers go...as far as abusive slave traders & owners go...as far as people who beat up their spouses & children...as far as any power hungry, bigot-minded, control obsessed humans that the rest have to deal with...
They do serve purpose for the spirits involved in their lifetimes & after, they will serve their consequences justly, and life will go on from them. It's how WE deal & accept that matters to our human future and the growth of our own spirits because of the records kept & stories told...WE decide how this effects us as a Whole, as beings of this Earth, as spirits of Godness...do these things cause you to hate more, like them? Or become more compassionate & loving to another to prove you are not like them? Your choice...See?

According to the Bible (for believers) killing is just fine. God is the greatest mass murderer in history.
References: Genesis 6:11-17 and Genesis 7:11-24
Some examples:
GE 6:13 - And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth.
GE 6:17 - And, behold, I, even I, do bring a flood of waters upon the earth, to destroy all flesh, wherein is the breath of life, from under heaven; and every thing that is in the earth shall die.
Seems to me that God (for you believers) is annoyed with humanity other than his buddy Noah, and decides to kill (murder) every living thing on the face of the earth, except of course Noah and his family - got to have a few friends left.

Why would Jesus want us to be terrorized by terrorists. All they do is instill fear and destroy us just for being American, and free. I'm not saying war is just revenge, but it's putting an end to something to terrible.
