I am the latter and have been for a long time. What is YOUR story?

As a help here are some things to think about (thank you Brain Tracy):

Optimists: control their reactions and responses, isolate an Incident (don't take everything personally), see setbacks as temporary events, don't take failure personally, remain calm and objective, view a negative situation as a single event not connected to other potential events & caused largely by external factors over which (one) can have little control.

Pessimists: sees negative events as permanent, as part of life and destiny, sees incidents as pervasive (they are indications of a problem or shortcoming that pervades every area of life), has a tendency to take EVERYTHING personally. can be at MOST times angry, upset, or distracted

Pessimist...bombs are going off everywhere, children are dying in Africa, the obesity rate is climbing higher and higher, suicide rates are up, more animals are endangered than ever before, parents who smoke weed and snort cocaine are raising children, pollution from cars and factors is harming the environment etc. etc. I think pessimists are more observant and sensitive to social INJUSTICE. Optimists, I believe, are more willing to pretend that these situations aren't "so bad." They are!

I am being realistic when I say that I am quite upset at the world. Optimists are okay, as long as they don't claim to be hardcore optimists. You are not being "psychologically healthy and smart." You are being blind. Stop smiling, and volunteer at a domestic violence shelther. Then you'll understand...

I am an optimist - tho my daughter thinks I am a pessimist. I think because I remain positive at work and around others, but feel more free to get upset at home.

Optimist, completely. I don't get upset very often and tend to be pretty Buddist considering I grew up Southern Baptist. LOL

Pessimistically, I believe that optimists don't see the full picture.
