You should have thought of that before you bought him.

They have short noses, which means they can't handle the heat very well. They have a short coat, which means they can't handle the cold very well.

Not a good candidate for an outside dog. Get used to him being inside, it is not his fault you didn't think it out before you purchased him. If he is unruly, take him to a couple obedience classes.

I was answering your question, I am sorry it is not the answer you wanted to hear.

Yes. Depending on where you live you need to take a few things into consideration. If you have an outdoor dog, it is important to keep in mind that vaccines are more important (especially rabies which is required by law in most states.) Also, American Bulldogs have short coats, so they can get some sun in the summer and don't have a way of keeping warm in the winter.

nearly all dogs can live outside. just make sure that he has plenty of fresh water to drink, a good quality enclosure so he can't get loose, and some sort of doghouse or other shelter to escape the heat or cold, preferably with some form of bedding inside it, as the case may be. you will also have to be more vigilant about flea, tick, and other pest control efforts.

note that it is animal abuse to leave your dog outside without these essentials.

1. Only if you live in a nice mild climate.
2. Only if your back yard is enclosed so he can never escape to run loose in the street!

I live in Los Angeles. It's typical for dogs to be kept outdoors here.
