it just always seems like everything always is about him. i even tell him he is selfish. if he doesnt get his way or if the spotlight isnt on him he becaomes a huge *sshole

It is good that you can see how he truly is... Don't expect him to change. Get out now, before you get hurt even more... He isn't a boyfriend... h'es an *sshole as you said.

The only was to teach him a lesson is to break up with him and tell him that his selfishness was the source of the break up. If he has really changed then he will come back.

My bf was selfish too. Tell him what you told us: that it is killing your relationship and you can't be with someone who is more concerned with themself than with the person they are dating

GOOD, YOU ARE NOT MARRIED TO HIM. YOU ARE NOW SEEING HIS TRUE COLORS. HE IS A NARCISSISTIC PERSON. HE CAN NEVER LOVE ANYONE ELSE. YOU CAN'T CHANGE OR FIX HIM.
