I have wavy/frizzy hair too. I use to straighten my hair for about two years, now it is really damaged. If you're really set on straightening your hair don't buy one of those crappy hair straighteners from Target. Get a 100% ceramic straightener, they are the only ones that won't completely ruin your hair. But, trust me they aren't cheap. Some say that they're ceramic, but they're only part ceramic, and will still be bad for your hair.

If you are talking about a chemical straightening, you'd want to have that done professionally as you might really damage your hair, but if you are referring to a product that you apply after shampoo, I found that Zero Frizz does a pretty good job. You apply it while your hair is wet and don't rinse off. Start off with a little til you get the hang of how much to use as if you use too much it can be heavy and weight your hair down.

I have hair a little past the shoulders too. I use a CHI straitener every day. They are expensive but they are worth it. You can also get hair products for people that use heat on their hair that helps manage the frizz.
