We need a new bed - or at least a new mattress. I'm waking up with neck pain and headaches and he's waking up with back pain. I was looking into the sleep number bed, and the memory foam mattresses. I don't want to spend more than necessary, but we're gonna have to get something.

I like the idea of the sleep number bed because we both sleep differently but we both want a soft bed, that is supportive.

I like the idea of the "memory foam" beds because I have "The Perfect Pillow" "The Perfect Mattress Topper" by Isotonic and and I absolutely love it them.

But the beds are so expensive. Are they worth it?

We're looking at getting a King Size or Cal. King Size because of his height.

Tell me how you like your bed, or what you've heard about different beds.

My husband and I recently purchased a new mattress and feel soooo much better since. At first, we did lots of internet reasearch; it became more of a chore than a fun thing to do so we nixed the internet option and just went to several locations where we could actually feel the product. It took about an entire week, but we got the matress set that we wanted and finnagled with the salesman so we got a great deal too! Good luck on your matress hunt. It's better in my opinion to go from store to store and then go to some more, remember or write down the prices and brand of matresses you like in there's a better deal at another store or if you find one you like more somewhere else. Good luck! And have fun!

Waterbeds have gone out of style in recent years, and for good reasons. I changed from a bladder-type water mattress to a soft-sided mattress with water tubes. On my king-size bed, there are five tubes for each side. You may fill the tubes until you reach the firmness level you desire. The nice thing about this type of mattress is that you can do jumping jacks on one side of the bed and a glass of water on the other side will barely show any ripples. One of my cousins is deaf and as she sat on one side of the bed facing away from us, the kids jumped on the other side. She was supposed to let us know when the kids started jumping. She never felt them jumping.

Obtaining the custom firmness is a bit more cumbersome than a sleep number bed, but I believe this type of mattress is more durable. We also use a memory foam topper that we zip under the top cover of the mattress. Before you try this type of mattress, make sure you have a frame designed to support all of that weight. Water weighs roughly seven pounds per gallon and each tube weighs in excess of fifty pounds.

Good luck!

PS The difference between California King Size Beds and a regular (or Eastern) King Size bed is not that great. Eastern Kings measure 76" wide by 70" long. California Kings measure 72" wide by 84" long. You trade 4" of width for 4" of length by going to the California King. I found that if you buy deep mattress sheet sets, they fit both Eastern and California King Size beds just fine.

The best advice would be for you to get a modern - they are so much better than they used to be - waterbed. The problem is that you need a bed and not just a mattress but they are are so worth the investment. The best ones are the firm ones. Visit a shop and try them with an open mind, you'll be sold.

They are meant to provide the same amount of rest for your body than a normal bed but... in fewer hours..

Get the temperpedic bed with the adjustable mechanism. It is about 4,000 and so worth it.
