Yeah. I get that too. I don't understand it. I only have a theory.
You can sense the energy and joy if the song is coming from their heart and soul, and it touches you if you are empathic, because all positive energy is very powerful and capable of touching our deepest emotions. The first impulse is to experience the joy through the spirit, and then the body. You cry and/or smile because of this reaction. It's just a physical reaction to what you are sensing inside. I get the urge to cry when I hear a lot of different types of music that people truly sing from their heart and soul. I'm not a Rock fan, but that song by Creed, Arms Wide Open, gets me every time. It's so beautiful, and it's not even sappy. The dude was just honestly singing that song from his heart about his baby, and I think you have to be completely out of touch with your emotions not to feel it.

Depends what sort of crying. You can have mournful crying and also crying for joy. I often have the latter when I hear Christian music - beats the secular any day for reaching right through to my emotions.

The thing is that you usually have stronger emotions related to sadness than to joy. also, they tend to "mark" you more, so that kind of music uses the right arrange of chords and notes to put you on a blue mood, while the lyrics do the rest. Its marketing, i guess, and i dont really think it should be made like that if you ask me

Maybe you suddenly find yourself on the edge of reason.
My heartbreak was severe when I realized my religion was controlling and evil. It took years to get through and get over.
Or....maybe you are a rare species of authentic christian that is truly moved by your belief.

Maybe God has been touching your heart somewhere and it is making you cry. It is not necessarily a bad thing. Maybe just something you're not aware of. You could ask him, and he'll tell you why. I often cry at beautiful things.
