everybody walks at a different pace, you would pass people even your own age, its not rude. but the way in which you do so, should be respectful. as far as the blind woman, if you had thoughts of if she would need help or not, it probably wouldnt hurt you any to slow down and offer someone some help once in a while. obviously you are thinking about it, maybe you should have asked her instead of running past. people are in too big a hurry to get nowhere these days. be considerate to those around you, you would wish for the same if you were in their shoes, which you will be some day, perhaps not blind, but you could be.

It's not rude. But they might feel as if your taking advantage of them. Being disrespectful to old people and the blind is what's rude. If you see someone heading for a locked door, tell them it's locked and offer to help them find a door that is not blocked. Leaving them alone, to find a locked door is kind of mean. lol.

running past a old or blind person is not considered rude, but its always a nice gesture to help them into a locked door. but again since shes blind they learn to adapt and how to do everyday things with out there sight.

It may be. Don't run by her. Walk a short distance from her/him. If you walk right by them fast it looks rude. Also, they go slow because they are blind. Not because they want to.
Just be nice and walk across from her calmly. Or what I mean is beside but 3 feet away. They are blind anyway.

If they are near an entryway or something that might require assistance it is rude not to offer help. Especially to a blind person walking up to a closed door.
You need to put yourself in the others shoes and think about how you would like to be treated.

They are just people like you. There is nothing to be afraid of or at least nothing that you should not be afraid of with a sighted person.
Before helping anyone sighted or blind is it best to ask first if they want help. If you do not ask first then you could be charged with assault. Unwanted touching is an assault with anyone sighted or blind.
And as I said before just because they are blind does not automaticly make them saints, nor vice verse make them monsters. Interacting with anyone should be handled with caution until you learn if they are decent people.
As to your question, you were being stupid, as well as rude, but like I said, it is best to be cautious around people you do not know. She could be a decoy to kidnap you, or rob you.

I don't really think so. What are you supposed to do? If you were feeling really gallant you could help them cross the street, but most old/blind people want to be considered independent and would balk at the thought of a stranger helping them.

If you knew she was going through the same locked door as you (and had a legitimate reason for going through that door) then you should have spoken quielty to her and asked if she would like you to hold the door open for her. Try it sometime - you might find yourself pleasantly surprised.

it's not rude to walk at your own pace, just dont be inconsiderate, meaning don't bump into them, and make sure to say excuse me, and maybe with the blind women you should have asked if she needed help, and helped if she did.

a locked door? and you used this same locked door.?
dont need to "run", just walk around them , they can feel you around them.
I just walk fast around them is all. but everywhere I go and run into these kinds of people. there are no locked doors.
so dont understand the 'locked door" thing.
