I have the same problem and I use the deep cleansing Tresemme. It helps a lot, but you still have to wash it at least every twenty-four hours. Also, if she uses conditioner, tell her to not put it on any part that touches her scalp as that will make it oiler. Tell her not to touch it a lot either if she has been. Oh, and don't brush it except in the morning and if it really needs it because that will bring the oil from her scalp to the surface even faster. Hope it works.

Hate to say it but she's actually washing her hair too much. Washing your hair too much washes away essential hair oils and that's why the hair becomes so oily so quickly...it's the hair panicking and over-producing the oils. What you should do is train the hair into realising that it needs to produce the right ammount of oils. Unfortuantely the only way you can do this is to wash it less than she has been. Say every third day. That way the hair and scalp will calm it with releasing the oils. She'll just have to be oily for a month or so.

You don't have to use a special shampoo but this helped me and my other friends try this...When using shampoo use hot water and scub hard all over your head till your hair is really soapy and rinse in hot water, with conditioner don't use alot, that can also help your hair look oily, and use cold water so the neutrients stay in and make hair thicker and shinier and less oily. Hope that works! GOOD LUCK!

Overwashing hair actually makes the oils come back faster. Its a natural defense. Most younger people or teens tend to produce more oils so it is a tricky situation. Try to get her to wash every second day, her scalp will get used to it. Look in the drugsore for a cleanser called Tersaseptic. I know its everywhere in Canada, I haven't bought it in the US yet, but try the local drugstore. Or try a powder shampoo every second day, you just brush it through and it will absorb extra oil, baby powder will do this too.

sometimes when people wash their hair everyday it dries the hair out so much that the body starts overproducing oil....it's no myth...i only wash my hair with shampoo every other day and my hair stylist says i have the best hair she's worked with -- you should use just a dollop of shampoo (quarter size) every other day and make sure the shampoo is moisturizing...like Biolage...those cheap shampoos only dry the hair out and oil will be produced to overcompensate for the lack of oil
