That depends.
If you have "soft" plaque in your arteries, you can eat foods high in fiber, especially oatmeal and that will help.
After a period of time, plaque hardens and there isn't anything I know of to remove it, except for surgery and that is just for small isolated areas where the arteries are occluded. (such as carotid arteries, which give the brain its blood supply)

First, cut the bad fat: Crisco type shortening, fried food, and margarine.
Next, eat some good fat; olive oil, canola oil, and keep it natural - when I have to have butter, I use real natural butter.
Then; switch to 100% whole grain products - AND cut the number of grain products you eat in half. ie: eat 1 slice of bread instead of 2, eat 1/2 cup of rice, etc.
Finally: double or even triple the amount of vegetables you eat -
I try to eat 1 raw fruit and 2 servings of raw veggies every day.
The most important thing besides diet -aerobic exercise! Start small: at first I could only do about 10 minutes of exercise. After 1 and 1/2 weeks I could do 15 minutes. Now I am up to 30 minutes and on Saturday-I exercised for 45 minutes! After you can exercise aerobically for 20 minutes, add some arm weights and sit-ups. One other thing, that will help you feel better is to cut the amount of sugar you eat. And try not to eat anything with High Fructos Corn Syrup in it. It was introduced about 20 years ago into the food supply. Many manufacturers switched from simple sugar to that. It will drive your pancreas crazy and I have a theory that is is a major contributor to insulin resistance which leads to type 2 diabetes. It is just my theory.

You shouldn't eliminate it completely, but lower the amount of fat you eat slowly. Keep track of what you eat and try not to eat more than a certain number of grams of fat per day (say you were eating 300 per day before, try to take it down to half that). Detox diets can be more harmful than helpful, and you probably won't unclog your arteries, so don't cut out fat completely. Also, are you even sure that they are clogged? For instance, if you were on Atkins, they probably aren't, because studies have shown that cholestorol is actually lowered by this diet. You can go to you doctor and they can do a special scan (I don't know the name of it though, sorry) and they can see if you actually have any blockages.

Go to a doctor, get a blood test, from those results the doctor can tell if you need to be on a cholesterol and/or triglyceride lowering medicine. Also be careful eating the dairy, oils, fast food. And get some exercise (even walking is good!)
