There is an organization called "The Chosin Few" composed of veterans of the Chosin Reservoir -- the 1st Marine Division and the 31st Army Infantry Regiment.

They will be holding a reunion in Las Vegas in September 2006, but they do not, as yet, have a web site.

Chosin Few Survivors List

By performing research.

Find the outfit you are interested in... and if you are researching the Chinese forget it their records suck.

But will guess you mean the Marines(but various support etc from other branches present).

War, for some reason, is very difficult on precise records.

With the advent of the computerized age with each combatant
having a lifetime ID(SSN) it HAS become very precise.

But data loss can still occur, typo's happen, etc.

A good library, books written, although there is a reason that was called the forgotten war...

BUT Marines and their history would be good bet, your Representatives to Congress(if in US) as well.

My dad was veteran of WW2 there is typo with his name. But as I know it was Omaha beaches and the National guard unit present(by then it was Nationalized- Army in other words) I was able to find it easily(just the first name misspelled-I can see the clerk typist squinking and saying... must be Frederick!)

As that area suffered an unexpected heavy counterattack many
things lost in the exodus. When you are losing people the paperwork is the least of concerns...

So sometimes where injuries were suffered is lost... but they would still be survivors. With missing toes for sure. The extreme cold killed more than the Chinese did BUT also helped a few survive wounds that would have killed them otherwise...

Why the interest? Send me a line- curious.

PS VA suffered fire which destroyed ALOT of records.

Upon completion of Tech School at Chanute AFB in 1988 , I had leave before reporting to McGuire AFB for transport to Germany , one day I went to Pembroke Mall in Virginia Beach , I was walking towards the entrance, when I saw a license plate , that read CHSNFW , I knew what it meant immediately , I stood there and I waited , i cannot remember how long, I would have waited all day, finally an older gentlemen walked to the car. I said "excuse me sir" he asked me "who are you" and I told him I was an Airman , and I knew what his plate meant , and I just wanted the HONOR of meeting him, I have met movie stars, rock stars, and sports stars, but with out a doubt , that was the Highlight of my life , and only my father impressed me nearly as much and only because he to was a war hero , without a doubt that was the day I remember more than any and I am 49 today ! THANK YOU VETS !!!

I believe you would need a list of all personnel attached to the U.S. Army's 2nd Infantry Division and the USMC 1st Division...this would include about 30,000 men, so it would be an almost impossible list to attain...you need to narrow it down some

For the Chinese it was a missed opportunity and their tactical victory came at too high a cost to some of their elite units. By allowing X corps to escape it meant that the Chinese lost a chance to inflict a decisive defeat on the UN forces.

This'll be really difficult to find -- you may be able to see which American units participated in the battle and a casualty list, but I doubt that you can find an actual list of who was in the battle and wasn't injured or killed. Even Wikipedia doesn't have much in the way of links.

Good luck!

I would try the 1st Marine Division Association first. You can find their home page on line. I can just about guarantee that within that group there is a smaller group of "frozen chosin" survivors.

I doubt there are many still alive. Contact the library of Congress.
