I would say the no kill shelter. You will be rescuing two dogs that way. The one that you adopt and the one that will take its place in the shelter that might not have otherwise had room for it.

Adopting a shelter dog is great no matter where you get it from. I think you should get your dog from a high kill shelter because then you're saving their life and they would be so grateful. I don't like it when they kill the dogs but then its just so happy that you saved it. I wish all shelters were no kill but you should help the poor dogs that are sent there. I suggest getting a pit bull mix. Thats what most shelter dogs are. They're a great breed. Good luck!

Even though people are making a great point of adopting from a no kill, I still think I would go to the kill shelter first. When you go in ask about their last chance dogs. These are the dogs that are on their last day or hours and usually they are kept in a different room (I have no idea WHY they do that, their sentencing them to death with no possibility of parole). Anyway that's my advice. Perhaps if you have extra room you could offer to foster a dog from a no kill. That's what I'm planning on doing when I have a big enough house.

Most shelters give the dog a week to live so a kill center would probably be nicer to adopted from. If you dont see a dog you like, go the next week :)
MUTTS ROCK (they have less health issues LOL)

(also, a cool fact is that some shelters may have a certain breed dog so they'll send it to a rescue. This means if you are looking for a certain breed, you can check a rescue!)

'No kill' shelters just send their unadoptable dogs to a kill shelter. It makes no difference which you adopt from.

Adopting any dog from any shelter is GREAT........I just brought home my 7th this week,,,,,,,,He had been there since june, nobody wanted him because he is about 6 years......Well MY GAIN...I have never brought home such a well trained dog,,He looked like hell & smelled so bad...Well I had him groomed & vetted,( groomed because his coat was SSSOOOOO bad, he must have been in agony) Well he`s feeling better & the biggest surprise is that he is a neutered schnauzer/cocker cross,,,with beautiful manners.......I brought him home as I knew that he was well tempered...which means more to me than pedigree,,,,But I ended up with a beauty inside & out,,,,,,

I would go for the no kill shelter. I don't support shelters that kill animals.
