You will proberbly get a faster data transfer rate with a USB Phone lead than IR or even Blue-tooth.

Check out the cost also, might be cheaper, mine was.

Make sure the phone has an infrared port. If it does, you should be set to go. All you should need to is perhaps make a setting on the phone, and then point the phone's IR towards that of the IR adapter, and Windows should see your phone.

you should go for the bluetooth adapter instead. Much better and easier to use.
Then just go to the nokia website and download the nokia pc suite for free and it does everything the usb leads do.

I would reccomend using a cable, not IR.

The nokia software is poor.

Download Oxygen Phone Manager (from oxygens website) and crack it so its no longer a demo. ( http://thecrack.us/search.php?q=oxygen ) =0)

It works with every nokia i've put near my laptop so far (Cable, bluetooth and IR) Simple interface, you can password protect mobile details(on pc), transfer audio/video and java programs/games, backup / restore your entire phone, unlock network monitor(dependant on phone) and much more.

Be carfull what cable you buy tho,the Don't buy the first one you find I would reconmend a 'DKU5' cable, but there a three different types of DKU5... and i don't know enough about them, sorry.(mine cost 'bout £7 from E-bay)
and does everything i ask of it. I know you need a DKU5 to unlock them properly...
