And why did people begin baptising babies? Jesus himself didn't get baptised until he was 30 years old. I think it's only ceremony & doesn't mean ANYTHING at all. I think it's better if someone wants to become baptised at an age when they can DECIDE for themselves whether they want to follow Jesus. If you believe in baptising children, could you please explain to me what the point of it is? It doesn't 'save' a child. The blood of Jesus does that.

None. they have no concept of what is going on. With knowledge of baptism and its purpose, it is no more than bathing the baby. there is no magic or salvation in water baptism as many Christian denominations teach---it guarantees nothing. Jesus loves you.

It is a sign of life, love, forgiveness, and community. Water itself
is the primary key to maintaining life. The cleansing of the water is itself an act of love and forgiveness. The community, in the act of performing infant baptism, renews the call of Christ to protect even the least (or in this case, the smallest) of His people.

All of the ancient Churches of the Apostles, except for the Roman Catholic Church, still perform both infant Baptism and infant Chrismation (a sealing to the Holy Spirit with holy oil).

In the Roman Catholic Church, during the Middle Ages, baptism continued to still be performed on infants as well as an annoiting with oil. But, full chrismation or confirmation as it came to be known began to be primarily performed by the bishops of the Church. This meant that many were confirmed many years after baptism.

During the Protestant Reformation, many reformers saw baptism and confirmation as an unnessecary duplication. Some denominations do not annoit the faithful with oil ever. It is only certain of these demoninations that dissallow infant baptism. This ideology tends to excluded the young from full participation in Christ's Church.

Dissallowing the baptism of infants is a misunderstanding of ancient Christian teaching. All Protestant demoninations sprang from the Roman Catholic Church, which traces itself back to Peter. Therefore this is an ancient practice that was abandoned by these groups.

Among the other ancient Christian Churches that trace themselves back to one or more of the twelve apostles such as the Orthodox or the Copts, infant baptism was always acceptable for those who were born into Christian families. Adult baptism is also acceptable.

Baptising babies is something that was cooked up by the Catholic church. This was to prevent them from going to hell if they died young, which they often did. It was a way to scare the masses into Christianity. Baptism was supposed to be a choice by an adult to devote their lives to God. Baptisizing children was also a way for parents to show their devotion to raising their children as Christians... that's what they said when I was baptised.

The "Baptism" of a baby is more for the parents than the child. It's a dedication or christening that symbolizes the parents commitment to bring the child up in a Christian environment so they can learn to walk in the way of the Lord. Hope that helps.

It is a Catholic thing.
A doctrine of the catholic church.

The Bible says:
Acts 8:36 And as they went along the road they came to some water; and the eunuch said^, "Look! Water! What prevents me from being baptized?"
Acts 8:37
Acts 8:38 And he ordered the chariot to stop; and they both went down into the water, Philip as well as the eunuch; and he baptized him.

A baby can not grasp the concept of being a sinner or the need to be saved.
You have to be of an age when you can grasp the concept.
You need to make the choice.
A baby can not.
You need to know that you were a sinner. Does a baby, NO!.
You can accept the word as it is written, or you can reject it.
If you reject the Word, then you have religion. Don't refer to the Bible again.

If you are religious then you have a sense of the HOLY and the UNHOLY. We baptize babies because they are unable to do anything to protect themselves from evil. As adults we can confide in priest, go to church, decipher the bible and pray.

If we look at Jesus' life his most vulnerable and hardest times came after he was 30 years old. He needed protection most of all during those times.

i'm a baptist. we don't baptize infants. there is not any element till they make the call for themselves whilst they attain an age the place they comprehend the version between top and incorrect. i don't comprehend of any baptist church homes that baptize infants. sometimes somebody could have a ceremony dedicating their newborn to the Lord, even though it would not contain baptism.

You are on your way to becoming a freethinker. Good job!

Since in Christianity, every one is born with Sin, one must be baptized in order to have a chance at Heaven at all.

That is a complete waste of time, because all babies belong to God and will go straight to Him should they die before they reach the age of accountability and know what a sin is.
