What Helps For Diarrhea

Depends on what caused it. If you've had it for days, though, the best thing you can do that won't interfere with anything else you might be trying is to drink rice water. Get some plain rice, boil it down, then before it's done cooking, strain the water out. Discard the rice and just drink the water. It will pull any impurities out of your system and should clear up the runs. That way, if you are doing pepto, antibiotics or anything else, it's not going to have any kind of adverse reactions and is 100% safe for all ages, even babies.

Don't take Imodium yet. Let it run it's course. Most people tend to plug up their bowels by taking Imodium but they don't realize that by doing do so, they let the bug stay in the bowel longer. Imodium would be only a quick fix without really taking care of the problem. If after a day or two you continue with diarrhea, then take your Imodium. Good luck.

WhyWhyWHy!!! Why is it happening? That's the big question. Is it from bad food? Infection? Diverticulitis? Crohn's disease....the list goes on. If it's been going on for a few days the doctor should be asking a few more questions to help figure out why. Staying ahead of dehydration will be a start. If it's an intestinal bug of some sort then 'better out of you than in you' is something to keep in mind. Go see a doctor especially if you can't keep yourself hydrated and it won't stop.

Hope this helps. Jeff the nurse in Nashville

First clean your toilet with bleach inside and out..then sip on some sports drink e.i. gatorade ...just drink a little at a time over the course of the day....dont eat or drink anything sugary that only brings more water to the colon. maybe snack on some crackers with salted tops. Salt (Sodium) helps dry up the colon and stops the diarrhea.
