have been fighting because he hates cats and doesn't want another cat because he said they ruin things. He said If I come home with one he will kill it and leave me with our morgage payment. HELP! I feel empty without a cat in my life.

First....sell the house to get rid of the mortgag payment, get the cat you want....then kick the boyfriend out. He doesnt love you if you cant have little thing like a cat.

PLEASE dump this good for nothing jerk a s a p! How can he possibly love you if he threatens something like this? You deserve a decent man and he is far from being such. EVEN IF SO FAR HE HAS NOT LAID A FINGER ON YOU, YOU ARE IN AN ABUSIVE RELATIONSHIP - THREATENING TO KILL A LOVED PET IS ABUSE!
You don't say if you have children but I hope you don't, because if he is capable of hurting an animal he will also probably be capable of hurting a child.
Please don't, under any circumstances - for the cat's sake and for your own - get another cat while you are with this utter monster!!!
Walk out and leave him with the mortgage, see how he likes that. Take the children with you if you have any and if you think he is likely to come after you, get an injunction from a solicitor as a precaution.
Enlist the help of anyone and everyone you know - family, friends, colleagues. If child care/money/somewhere to live are issues, visit your local library and ask for sources of help, addresses of local hostels etc etc.
And, as at least one other of your responses has said, you don't know that he didn't have something to do with your other poor cat's disappearance? Animal abuse is a crime and there is far, far too much of it in this world. If you have any suspicion that he was instrumental in your other cat's disappearance then shop him to your local RSPCA (or eqiuivalent if you are not in the UK).
Please take good care of yourself, the road ahead may well be tough for a while if you take my advice but you won't regret it in the long run. I hope you will eventually get the loving relationship you deserve.

He doesn't respect you, doesn't love you enough to try to work something out that's important to you, and yet you're still with this creep? Hon, get some self-respect, and figure out how to get him out of your life. You deserve a man who'll understand your needs and wants and will actively work towards helping you be happy. Why would you want to be with a man who obviously doesn't give a d@mn about helping you be happy?
Do not get another cat. The cat will suffer, as will you. Get yourself out of this bad relationship, get settled in somewhere else, and once you know you can take care of yourself and a cat, THEN get a cat. Until then, you can't properly care for one. I know this will come across as hurtful, but please understand: you can't take care of yourself properly right now (as evidenced by your staying in a bad relationship), you're likely not going to be able to properly take care of something dependent on you (a cat). I wouldn't trust your boyfriend with a cat he hates.
Ever considered doing volunteer work at some of the local animal shelters or at a vet's office? You may be able to have some contact with other people's cats, and can make a difference, but don't have to necessarily have one at home?

Think, what do you love more. Cat or boyfriend?? If cat, tell him to get out or you move out and buy a dreamy kitty. If boyfriend, try to camly talk to him and say "Look, I really want a cat, so can we talk about it?". If that does not work, ask about a simaze. They are smart and like never are bad. A good suck up is when you to are driving together say "My friend needs a cat toy, don't ask". Stop in the pet store and stare and stare at pictures of cats and if they have cat, stare at them and get tears in your eyes. He might say you can have one cat. Good luck.

Somehow I feel that your life would not be empty without this man.
If you love animals you do not want to connect with a man who would make that threat against you.
If you continue this human relationship, please do not bring a cat into the home. Any animal that is going to be in your life needs the love, caring and respect of all members of the household.
Cats are particularly sensitive to danger in their environment. Your poor kitty probably just didn't feel safe around this turd.

Okay, if you're boyfriend is threatening to kill a cat, what kind of man is that? He probably killed your last cat. You need to not bring an animal into that enviroment, or dump that ****** of a man, either way works.

Sit down and talk with your man hosestly. Tell him that you feel that you have lost something important and that you're upset about it. Tell him it would make you feel better to have a cat. If that doesn't work, maybe you two could compromise and get a dog.

you feel empty without a cat.....really?? maybe u need to spend more time with ur boyfriend. Not a good idea to get another cat bcos if ur bf doesnt like them who knows what he will do to it....maybe u have to wonder what happened to the last one?
