I am a believer of aromatherapy treatments. Been applying the following techniques to my kids for insect bites and so far so good. However, it takes an effort from your son to stop scratching during the treatment.

Tea tree helps in anti inflammation while lavender and chamomile have soothing effects.

Try applying a combination of tea tree and lavender essential oil directly on the bites. Repeat every hour or as and when required. If there is inflammation, apply an ice-cold compress with a few drops of chamomile essential oil or lavender to sooth the itch.

An added treatment would be adding 8 to 10 drops of the above oil to the bathwater daily. Hope it helps.

Make sure all of his clothes that he took with him are washed. my cat had fleas before and it was horrible! It helped me a lot to have a warm shower or bath. Cortizone also helped a bit. Good luck!
