Congratulations, you begin a journey that few start, and even fewer attempt.

The path is on the straight and narrow, and there is no room for anyone else, pro or not.

When one begins a journey, one might seek directions to the destination, but after one has taken the first step on that journey, the professional becomes the parent, watching the child take its first steps, there is no coming along, and the professional becomes the spectator.

That is not to say you cannot advance your learning by ongoing study, as we never stop learning.

One of the most profound realities you will experience is discovering that you will never find happiness somewhere out there, as happiness comes from within.

The wonderful feeling of true love, if not inside you already, will never be realized on the outside. All originates from within and if there is something in your life that you do not have, it is because you did not think of it, want it, dream of it, and see yourself already having it and having felt the burning desire in order for it to be materialized into reality.

Meditation is the art of quieting the conscious mind and listening to the inner voice, and when you have accomplished that, you will have come full circle, as the inner voice is you, for you are one with the universe.

I salute you and enjoy the exciting new adventure that lies before you.

Not at all; in fact, in my experience, professionals seem to focus too much on fitting you into a mold based on their training. I had a psychologist once who I am convinced was just trying to make me cry. There was no help, just a push to be emotional; I guess he was of the catharsis school of psychology, but it sure annoyed me. Professionals seem too often to lose sight of how to see others as actual humans, rather than syndromes with legs. The self-awareness was gained when I realized I had to leave behind the so-called guidance of the professional and even the collective rehashing of problems in self-help groups. Of course, others may think differently than I do, but this is my opinion.

yes
initially you dp need a professional because you r always new to yourself
it has been proved that a human being knows only 2% of himself
towards the end it is ok to let professional move away gradually
think of it more like a dad teaching his kid to walk
the dads the pro while your the kid

You can only take yourself. There may be people along side of you but they do not know you and what you are aware of no matter how hard you try to share it with them. That is why it is self awareness.

No but it helps to get you on the path...really it becomes necessary if we have life experiences that challenge our coping abilities...ie mutiple stressors at one time loss of job, suicide of a family member, divorce....no support group..then our coping abilities may be stressed to the limit.

A professional is necessary when you are incapable of making your own insights and is not necessary when you can make your own insights.

I'd probably just follow the yellow brick road - and see what happens.
