I stay at home with a two and a three year old. Here are some things we do. All of the material can be found at your nearest dollar store...(if his parents are payin'--just put it in the bill, lol)

Playdough: You gotta watch him with the playdough though, they WILL try to eat the blue pizza.

Shaving cream: Make shapes, letters, and numbers if you want to add some learning in there. Either way, he'll love smearing it and the feel of it in his hands. It's easy to clean too.

Sidewalk Chalk: If you have a driveway he may enjoy this also.

Bubbles: Kids LOVE bubbles. It may make it easier on you to invest in a cheap bubble gun.

Throw the ball around: Boys will be boys. Any of the plastic balls found in the big cart at the gocery store will appeal to him. Roll it he'll chase it, and even be ready for a nap if you time it right.

These are just a few things. Hopefully it'll point you in the right direction!

There are a lots of stuff you can do with a 2 year old. I babysit one 2 year old, and each time we're together, we're having so much fun.

If you're staying at home, read him stories, watch cartoons with him, play hide and seek, dance with him if he's into it, do the things he likes to do around the house, like play with his toys, cars, draw if he likes drawing...

If you're taking him out, take him for a walk in the park, maybe the one where there are bunch of other kids so that he can play with them and enjoy being with other kids. But make sure to keep both eyes on him all the time!

Good luck and enjoy!

Blocks and the sandbox.
Children at this age really enjoy excersizing their motor-skills. They are finally a point where they can move about just as they please.

So I suggest doing things that are physically exciting. Like building blocks, a sandcastle, playdoe. Or swinging on a swing.
At this point, he'll become more and more active, so his diet will be very important to helping him grow.

It's probably a little early to start coloring with crayons. He'll probably just break them into peices, but it isnt too early to start learning colors and shapes, or the differences is sizes, textures, colors, and animals or things.
Kids his age will also begin to develope their likes and dislike. Like food, and TV shows. I think every kid loves the Wiggles on Disney.
Music, music, music. Get the kid a cool sing along CD or DVD. He should like it.

Read. Read. Read. Play with toys and invite imagination, having them talk and do role modeling. Puzzles. Numbers. Read the cans in the grocery store. Talk to him, and not in baby talk either. Give him your undivided attention for play, but be sure that he has time on his own to entertain himself. Do not snack all of the time. Make meal time a family time. You are a special person!

Just have fun! Take him to the park or out in the yard. Play with trucks and big bouncing balls. Kids this age will have fun with almost anything, if you give them the chance! Just let him go, and follow along!

Books, crayons, sandbox, playground, soccer, neighborhood walk, puzzles....if you don't have any toys at your place for him to play with, have his mom bring a few, and hit a dollar store before he comes, to have a few new, cheap things to entertain him.
