I am from Canada and moved to the USA with the intent of becoming a police officer. So far every department I have found requires full US citizenship to be a sworn officer. Many states, such as Florida, have state laws mandating peace officers be citizens. Other states do not have such laws but department regulations require citizenship.
Therefore, unless you are luckier than I am and can find a department that will accept an immigrant, you must first find a job in the private sector and obtain the proper work permits. After a few years you will get a Green Card, five years after that you will be eligible for full citizenship.

You might want to try to become a police officer in England first. Then move--I know in some cases they have an exchange program--just a though. Good Luck. And by the way, I think all police dept. require you to be a citizen---and having a degree only enhances your chances, most dept. don't require a degree.

Every department is different. Where I am, you don't need a college education to join in. You have to pass the tests, and back ground check. You will join the police academy, and you have to pass that as well. I think you have to be a citizen if you want to be a Fed. police for sure. I am not sure about local departments.
Good luck !

If you want to move to the US and want to be a police officer you will have to go to college. You will be required to show some proof of what you specifically studied and will have to attend 4 years of college? You may want to hurry up on your decision because American schools start in the next couple of weeks.

Well first you have to get your geen card and get over here. Then you would have to wait about 5 years until you can qualify to take the American Citizenship test and then once you have your Citizenship, you can apply and go to academys and become an officer.
