I heard at the vets office that giving brewers yeast tablets stops the shedding. The tablets are bought at Pet Co or Pet smart and go by the animals weight.

Feeding a high quality food SIGNIFICANTLY reduces shedding. My cats are fed Nutro Natural while my neighbors cats are fed Science Diet (by the way it is NOT a food that I would consider feeding my cats, even though the vet may have said it is.) My cats shed only during summer, to get rid of the summer fur. While my neighbors cats shed so much hair, I don`t even want to go to their house.

I think you need to look into what you are putting into your cats and dog in the way of food. If you are feeding an inexpensive food from a grocery store your animals diet is mostly corn. Not nutritionally utilized, especially by cats.

Homeopaths for both people and animals know that the superficial signs of poor diet and health manifest themselves on the surface of the body. If the diet is not improved the problem tends to move INSIDE the body and then significant disease may develop.

I have heard of some people using Brewer's yeast for flea control, not for shedding. It is certainly not a substance that would be called for in a cat's diet.

Feeding a high quality food will reduce shedding, although some shedding is normal in the summer. Science Diet, Iams, Euaknuba, or anything that you are getting from your grocery store or Wal-Mart are not going to be high quality foods.

it has alot of mineral and vitamin supplaments in it, as well as flea protection w/o the harsh chemicals!! if you are feeding a high quality diet you should have no need for extra supplaments. Eagle Pack, Wellness, And Innova are all ideal holistic foods for getting all that nutrients your little guys need. But there will be no harm, and I've never seen a gassy dog from it.

They are supposed to shed in warm weather.
My vet says not to buy meds from the mail order pet supply companies.
A lot of what they sell is diluted worthless overpriced crap.
