an awesome way is a kitty that has been abandoned. Check out:
www.petfinders.org
there are many kitties on there needing love. Most have been rescused by the pound or off the streets and are living in foster homes and have been trained. Awesome organization. I got both my dogs from there.
Good luck, and thank you for taking in a new friend!

I don't know what facilities are available in your community that do kitten adoptions. Usually there are rescue organisations that advertise kittens for adoptions all summer long.
Most of these places take good care of their kittens. Many have been in foster homes and socialized by their foster "parents", have had worming, maybe a first shot for distemper, even been spayed and neutered if they are around two to three months old.
You will pay a fee for these adoptions. Usually about half what the cost would be on the "open" market and well worth the price.
Agencies look for people who are financially able to care for an animal. They want to feel sure you will find a way to get the animal medical treatment if serious problems arise. That you will continue the series of shots necessary for the kitten's protection, that you are aware of the dangers of letting a young kitten outside on its own, that if you have young children in your household that you are prepared to supervise their interactions with the kitten.
Responsible agencies do not adopt out sick kittens. They are all tested for FIV and leukemia before adoption.
These are all good reasons not to take "free" kittens from irresponsible owners who let their cats breed uncontrollablly.

Go To The Human Society Or A Animal Shelter. And Then Have Your Vet Take A look At Your Cat.

Check your local SPCA or other animal shelters. When we adopted our kitten, we had to fill out some paperwork but nothing too complicated. They also have older cats that people had to give up. You will be able to tell a healthy kitten by the way it acts and looks.

Call your local pet rescue group. If you get 2 kittens they will entertain each other and leave your feet alone at night. Cats have their own personalities and tend to do their own thing. Not all are lovey dovey. Never try to change them, it won't work.
Good luck!

Pick the kitten up and see if it will bond with you. Does it want you to pet it? Bring along a string or a ball and see if it is playful.

well maybe you should find your local humane society or SPCA because there are lots cat that if they don't get sold the vets will have to kill them. It is very sad so people need to get cats. If every person had at least one cat in america it would help but there are to many cat abusers.
