yes, i've done it both with the assistance of a "professional" and without. i was not very good at it on my own 25 years ago, but i am reasonably good at it now, as long as the therapy doesn't extend far beyond myself.

Oh my, I think you are treading on sacred ground that could be very, very dangerous. Practicing cognitive therapy is voodoo like magic and to delve into that arena without the proper training and knowledge could prove fatal. I know of someone who was terminally ill with a rare form of cancer. They started messing with cognitive therapy on their own and a few weeks later they were struck down by a drunk driver and killed as they we're leaving a Doctor's appointment. The last thing this dying lady said as she lay dying in the street was, "I should have NEVER practiced cognitive therapy without the proper training", and she died. Dear God, don't end up like this lady. Don't play with fire cause you will get burned. Bless you, Child.

If you can honestly do it, yes, if not, get assistance until you get to the point that you can monitor yourself alone. I've had training, so I'm good at it.

If you suggest it your professional may agree.
Ask the professional why you are receiving assistance. He surely has a reason. Never be afraid to ask your professional anything. It will improve your therapy.

It makes suitable experience! good psychological wellness therapist are continuously exploring and studying approximately themselves. because of the fact whilst we stop analyzing ourselves, how can we get excitement from the journey of others? As a therapist, i ought to comprehend healthful coping skills, and that i ought to comprehend a healthful decision from destructive one. yet I nonetheless have impulses, thoughts, and inner struggles. I do have a "voice" in my head it is my rational compassionate therapist voice, yet this isn't any longer the only one I hear to! I confront my own issues understanding it is going to likely be a transforming into danger. And if i % to amplify that improve, I see a therapist.
