We are moving (only across the city) to a new house. I’m really excited. But the problem is that as soon as I walk in there I can’t breathe!! It feels like someone is sitting on me. And I cough really badly, my nose gets stuffy. And so I have to walk out side and it goes away.
[My mom said the person before us probably had cats]
It’s actually really weird.
I have really bad allergies, but normal there not like this.
WHAT DO YOU THINK IS WRONG???
HOW CAN I HELP THIS SITUATION????

If you have allergies already, you're in for a long road ahead. The house would nearly need to be sterilized from the previous owner. Not only cats, whose hair and fleas get imbedded in the carpet, but the smoke residue, dust mites, mold and mildew possibly, and any number of other causes. You should probably check with a doctor first, then offer to help yours folks do a major clean up of the place. They have special cleaners just for such things that you can use. Good luck, I really feel for you as I have such allergies as well.

The way you are describing the feeling of someone sitting on you and can't breathe is a sign of an allergry. I would have to have it tested for black mold. And I myself recently found out that the symptoms I have been having which 2 are like you described is an allergy to my cats. And if you are allergic to cats and the previous owner had some and never cleaned you may just need to open up the windows and scrub everything down with a combination of bleach and water before moving things in.

Have you had a Home Inspector check the property for mold or other allergenes?
There are a ton of things you can do to help the situation. They sell hepafilters and other ionic devices in stores that help filter out impurities in the air in a home.
The best thing to do is find the source and get rid of it. I'm allergic to cats, too. But, I can walk into a home that has a cat without describing what you did.

The case scenario you described, looks like you have allergy to something. It could be cat's dander, pollen, mites etc etc. It seems that you have strong dose of allergen in that house. Either you have to find the allergen and avoid that, or you may some medical measures like antihistamines or other means.

have someone check out the house and clean it. or else get medicine to help you. it is probably just from the people's cats.

have your parents clean the house thoroughly, or have someone clean it. You cannot participate in the cleaning because you get sick so you have a pretty excuse not to do it. After is cleaned they should put purifiers to finish cleaning particles or bacteria that is not easy to see or clean.

the smoke and cat hair, is probably in the vents of the house, so whenever the ac or heat is one, its blowing right at you. you should get your house clean professionally.

have your local fire dept check your carbon monoxide levels they can do tests for free. take samples of carpet and things around the house and have them tested. Have you talked to your doctor about this?
