Is truth something that can be determined through rational thought based on facts? Or is it something that can be determined only through mystical experience.

Even a relativist has to determine at least one absolute truth. That being, that everything is relative!

So what is your criteria?

Truth to me is completely different than reality or what is real. Real changes when something is added to it or taken from it, such as time or experience. Truth is what does NOT change. And example may be that someone told you good morning, later that afternoon you realize it is no longer morning, but the TRUTH is whether that person remembers it or not, whether they meant it or not, said it and cannot unsay it.

My criteria is through what I know has happened to me personally, along with being able to now look back and see my history....I have been walking a spiritual path for about 18 years and I can see serious changes in my thinking process and definitely my actions....I used to be a staunch Christian fundamentalist and I now am a kinder, more gentle person who realizes the evil in religion...That is my truth.

By reading the bible and researching. I've been fooled many times by listening to ministers or a religion for the truth. The bible teaches the truth but man teaches religion. As evident we have over 4,000 different religions in the world that teach something different.

Truth first of all needs to line up with the Word of God.

Second it needs to line up with experience in the world of common sense (flexibility allowed here) must be able to live with its logical conclusions.

Presupposition must not violate the law of non-contradiction (cannot be true and untrue when applied to external facts)

It also helps to measure truth by sharing it with friends or family that will be honest about their feelings and thoughts.

we cant determine anything, we just make new facilities available for transient period of time , mybe u think ur heart says the truth or ur brain says, but they u r just deceiving urself because u can satify urself now and no need to find the truth. it's ok so keep on, it is not ok change it. this is a way that people go

Well, the truth is
determined by studying the scriptures and if you doubt the scriptures then visit
the many places that the Bible talks about where these
historical events happened and you will probably still find archaeological
facts to verify these Bible Scriptures.

The truth comes from wisdom, understanding, and faith, the last is the most important!

Sounds counter intuitive, faith!
You can't see it or feel it, and its somewhat different for each one.

In a world where it has to be studied, dissected, repeated, and counted, faith just is not scientific.
It is not of this world!

But it is the truth!

Through the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit is the Only Spirit on the EARTH that can Lead and Guide you into ALL TRUTH.
Every other Spirit on the EARTH does not know ALL TRUTH. And some Lie. And some are Decieved. And some try to Decieve on Purpose, on and on and on.
The HOLY SPIRIT.
The Only One Who can.

nicely, fact is relative to the area. It varies from place to place. fact isn't actuality, yet actuality is fact. once I ask, “how can we make certain fact?” i'm beginning up from the assumed danger that we are limited in our skill to accomplish that with perfection. rather, we could take our perceptions, measurements, and although else, and then technique them in accordance to a pair variety of standards (good judgment, feeling, psychic powers, etc) to reach at a “style” of the actuality, which we are hoping is resembling the rather fact. clearly, the uncooked documents we've, and the greater sound and sturdy our procedures for processing such documents, the greater in all danger it rather is that our style of in actuality equivalent to the rather fact. so as that’s what I’m asking - what procedures and standards are the main in all danger to yield a greater precise style of the actuality?

For me,

"Truth" knows Truth" in part it is what we all are and I determine it by my own preceptions or interknowings.

Its ture nature of human reality may lay in the field of "quantum mechanics" since its sum is more.

...and for a criteriea, I do not need anybody to agree with me in order for me to have my own truth....even though it would make things easier at times.....................
