I have worked for some people over time, some of them for several years, and i knew deep down that the way they conducted business was counter to my beliefs. I suppose we all need to work to feed, clothe, and shelter ourselves, but there are many jobs to be had. Nonetheless, some of us sacrifice our faith in order to have more of a lifestyle. That's a shame and I believe many are selling their souls when they don't have to. I have left a couple of places and been relieved to be out from under the pressures of living (& working) their lies. One does not have to put aside their faith, morals and beliefs to have a job. If you are aware of doing wrong even if it's in the name of your employ(er), that doesn't make it right. According to the Bible, God will provide all that we need. we just have to trust that. It can seem hard to do but you can't live in sin just in order to be employed. That's no justification. We're expected to live Godly 7 days a week, so that would include our everyday workaday lives. If you are uncomfortable about your working circumstances and wish to find a better environment, pray for God to deliver you where he needs you most, assuming that isn't where you are currently. I've seen it happen. Meanwhile, while you wait for an answer to that prayer, try to have a good and Godly impact where you are. You'll win some over and some may even be mean and ugly and try to harm you behind your back. Stay steadfast in prayer and your faith and you'll be delivered. Just keep your eyes and ears peeled, opportunity knocks frequently.

Yes. I am a recovering alcoholic, and I consider AA meetings my "church." Some of them are even in churches.

Once I had been sober a few years, I thought it would be OK to take a night job that paid well even if it interfered with going to my favorite meetings, which are all at night. After all, there are meetings at all times of day and night, and I can't "hide out" in AA or use AA as a crutch. And it's not like I won't have days off to go to meetings.

Well, it wasn't OK. The last year of my life has been an absolute nightmare. I'm cranky, mean, opinionated, gossipy, and most importantly, separated from my higher power. I'm amazed that I haven't relapsed. It is much harder for me to feel like a human being when I can't tap into the source of everything good in my life- God as I understand Him. I do that by going to meetings.

No, work has never interfered with my spiritual beliefs. I can't give a reason why, but I just never let it, no matter what my job was. I believe that if you are a good person to yourself and others, that's all that matters. Maybe that's why work has never interfered with my beliefs. I just let those that feel the need to be rude (see 1st responder) be so.

While employment can be effected by ones "religious" or spiritual beliefs, The True Hope of those of The True Church is not of this mortal world. so it can not be altered by any physical interferance

Those of The Church of Which Jesus The Christ is The Head suffer much, including employment discrimination, because of our Faith. But, it is our Faith that is our strength. So, we know that the True reward of this mortal life will still be ours regardless of what happens in this mortal life. .

Your employment should BE your spiritual hopes and dreams. Making a living just naturally occurs all by itself when you begin to LIVE the vision, not just read about it in a bunch of old books.

Yes, I love going on trips to other countries and working with different humanitarian groups, however I do not ever have enough vacation time to go for as long as I want to. It is ether way to short of a trip or no trip at all. Also, my bosses never understand why I would go somewhere else to help other people. They begrudgingly give me days off to do humanitarian work.

Both of the m are related to one's duties.Doing an assignment which you have to perform is the duty towards the job for which you are paid .
Spiritual and religious tasks are assigned by God WHO cares you helpps you and who betows your needs automatically when you love Him .

After I was born again, I wanted to witness all over the place, I was like drawn to it.
I was let go because of it.
The place I was let go from no longer exists.
It employed 4000 people, most of which didn't want to hear it.
Some of which met it with violence, raised voices and stuff like that.
Since then I have learned. Don't do that.

Sure, many jobs will fire you if you tell them you can't work Sunday (or whichever day is your particular Sabbath day). Many jobs insist that all employees work on high holy days of all religions.

Yes, I've had to miss church for a job - that is not right.
