2 years ago i did't have any credit at all, so I asked my mom could I apply for a card in her name then add me as an authorized user to help me build credit. She agreed as long as I was responsible for paying the bill on my own.
I did very well for 2 years straight, I even help her out on her credit good until, she started having gambling problems. Not 1 but all of her credit cards are in collections or 120+ days late except the one I have. She ask me today to give her the card so she could go to the casino, I said no because I know her when it comes to gambling. Then she said well I will get it cut off, I said fine because I wasn't gonna let her ruin my credit as well but first let me take my name off of it.
I have helped her pay her truck notes lately, and help pay on other credit cards. I wanted to know if it was any kind of way that I could get the account transferred to my name only because i really do need the history of that account, and without it my scores would drop alot?

Sorry to tell you this, but as an authorized user you will be held liable to all of your mother's debt on the credit card your on. That means if she doesn't pay the card that you are on, the delinquency will also be yours. If you can pay off the card then do so and make sure you are taken off as a user or make sure your mother doesn't use the card any more...P.S. make sure she doesn't get a new own in the mail.If you can put a change of address on the bill so it comes to you...good luck.

Depending on the credit card company, most authorized users are just that, authorized to use the credit card but not responsible for the payments. So, I would check to see if you are even being held responsible for the payments or not Secondly, since you are the authorized user most companies will not take the primary name off and allow you to take the account over. You will probably have to apply for a new card.

If you have not gotten your 3 free credit reports, get them (www.annualcreditreports.com); don't go to the web sites where you have to pay anything.
These will show how your credit has been affected by your mother. "Your" card has been helping your mother, not you.
Whether you can get a card in your own name will depend on your current score and whether you can convince a card issuer that the fault was your mother's. You let this problem develop far longer than you should have, so expect to find a cool reception, unless you have other credit in your name that is blemish-free.
At best, your mother would have to agree to let you have "her" card. Why she would do that, I don't know. If she keeps it, she can use it - the only one she can use. If the card issuer will not re-issue the card in your name, you can ask them to cancel it, but again you will probably need your mother's OK. If so, and she refuses, your choices are limited: stop using the card and stop paying, at least after you have paid your purchase balances, or go to court and try to get an order against her using the card or having her sign it over to you - if the issuer will accept that order.

If she has a card in her name and you have one in your name, you are able to call the creditor and tell them the situation. They might be issue you a completely whole new card, so your mom won't know. If you are only an authorized user you should still try and call the creditor they still may issue you a different credit card, or can tell you what is best to do. You might be able to unauthorize your mom from using the card just let them know that your mom is having gambling problems.

You really need to get your name off of the account. She is the primary so you are better off just getting your name off. Depending on your age, you can apply online for a card. That will help you build your credit, you seem to be responsible enough to handle it. So try it and see what happens.

I think what you have to do its get her to call the credit company to take your name of her account, so the balance will be her responsibility once you have paid your part.
Then, now that you have a credit rating you can try and apply for one in your own name.
