Well, are you in middle school? If you are, be perfect. Do everything they ask you to, and do things before they need to ask you to. Try to arrange it so they can drop you off at the dance and pick you up again at a specific time. Don't whine. If they still say no, remember, there will always be more dances.

Tell them how you feel. I'm not sure, but I'm guessing you want the chance to prove to them that they're raising you the correct way. You want to show them that you can be responsible and follow their rules when not in their presence, and I'm sure you will go to the dance and truly act responsible.
Try telling them how you feel.
Sorry I can't help more.

Ask one of them to chaperon the dance. Do they feel the dance shouldn't happen at all-- do they feel that middle schoolers shouldn't be dancing as a social gathering? Or, do they just think YOU shouldn't dance as a social activity. You need to find out their concern so, you can address that specific worry.

Man she sure does worry. I went to dances even in the late sixties and Im still in one piece. You can tell her I said that. Tell her there will be supervision right there at the school and its safe. They could pick you up later right outside the door. No smoking. Be good.

Maybe if you talk to them and tell them that you would go with a group of people, and that your parents might know someone of the kids parent so that they could talk to them and maybe this way they would consider letting you go. Good Luck

Ask them what you would need to do to prove that you are responsible enough. Ask them why they feel you are not responsible enough. Have you done something that would make them doubt you? Do you understand all of the dangers and temptations out there? Ask them to explain what makes them worried.
