It is true to the ones who decipher it like that. Some who follow the Koran do not believe to be that way, but the large majority who do, do believe it. It is just how you decipher biblical text.

Tell your farther to go and get him self a copy in English and read it!! After all the bad mouthing of Muslims and Islam every day on the news for the past few years i got a bit curious about this religion and got my self a copy. read it a couple of times and converted to Islam. It wasn't that different from Christianity!! just like any religion it teaches, love, care, kindness, etc..only it respected it followers much more? It doesn't just encourage, but in fact it orders its followers to fight back against aggressors, fight back against any 1 that tries to steal your land or money. Christianity on the other hand says if some 1 slaps ya on your right cheek show him your left one!! I'm no B I T C H and I don't wanna be slapped around. I believe any 1 that respects you, cares for you, loves you will tell take care of your self, fight for what you believe in, don't just bend over and give in and this is exactly what Islam teaches. that’s why they are so powerful “spiritually” that’s why even the most powerful country in the world are having trouble controlling one little Muslim country compared to the amount and sizes of other Muslim countries.

Much like that other work of religious fiction, the bible, one can pick and choose verses to prove whatever you like.
In "The End of Faith" by Sam Harris, he quotes the Koran for 2 1/2 pages, all extolling violence against the Jew and the Infidel. His point was, that even though moderate Muslims say it is a religion of peace, they are ignoring some of the nasty bits that the fundamentalists espouse.
Follow the link to the skeptics annotated Quran and do a search for "Cruelty and Violence" The bible is no better, and you should do a similar search in it if you want to read about god telling the Israelites to rape and massacre their enemies

oh really? first of all the god of the muslims and the god of christianity are in fact the same god. if you dont believe me do some research on it. i have read both the bible and the koran. they are both the "god of abraham" and both books have a lot of the same stories, adam and eve, the flood. etc. so what that means is that on one half of the world jehovah god is telling them to fly planes into our buldings, yet over here he is "answering prayers and healing" secondly, all through the christian bible god "tells" humans to kill other humans. entire cities and tribes of people were killed because "they did not believe in god" there were thousands upon thousands of people killed in the name of christianty. so here is the real question. have any of us found the true god yet?

A great myth created by some people to make their religion look more acceptable than Islam after noticing the fast growth of Islam.
Yes there are few verses but if you read the context, you will clearly see the condition and that is "Fight those who fight you"

The Quran did indeed say that they can defend and protect by killing those who would take their land or bring them harm and voilate their teachings while in their land. If these killers of their people leave their land, then they should leave them alone. That is my understanding. However, it does not indicate that the Bible is any better, as you claimed, because God indeed did kill many people throughout the teaching of the Bible. Read them for yourself. Sad.

True- it does contain many passages exhorting slaying unbelievers.
False- the Bible is just as riddled with blood thirsty battles, all approved by "God", and also exhorts people to do nasty deeds in certain places- stoning adulterers, etc. Likewise, even Jesus' comment regarding coming not to bring peace, but a sword, could be taken the 'wrong' way..

The Q'uoran not only gives permission, it commands it. In the Islamic scriptures it says ...."strike down the non-believer (or infidel.)"....
Jews, not adhering to the Islamic faith are infidels.
The great majority of Europe and North America are Christian...therefore we are infidels.
Great bunch, those islamists; "Believe as we believe or we will kill you!"

Koran told to kill infidels/jews who approach the holly place in Saudi Arabia...I don't know how it must be read :
if you are clever, you read that and understand it as just a protection order.
if you are an terrorist, you will go out with your AK-47 in hands yelling "kill kill kill !"
It is always a fact of understanding.
