The same reason the Catholics listen to some guy who talks against homosexuality while wearing a dress and carrying a smoking purse.

No, the Prostestant faith is not Henry VIII's creation. His anger signalled the birth of the Anglican church, but Protestantism was well and alive by then and it's way more rich and complex than just the musings of a serial husband. Being such the beginnings I wonder how come wife beheading is not that common among Anglicans (well, Prince Charles's style is more sophisticated: he chose a BMW over an ax).

No - Henry VIII did not invest the Protestant movement. What he did was seperate the Church of England from being under the control of the Roman Catholic Church. Considering there were Pope's who had children while Pope's I am not sure that is much of a problem. Henry VIII's adulterery is more a matter of opinion rather than fact.

not sure which historic previous books you have been reading. Henry VIII develop into Catholic born and bred. even if Henry broke with Rome, The Church in England remained interior the Catholic custom till Henry VIII died. The Mass develop into nonetheless celebrated in Latin and Henry bequeathed super sums of money so as that hundreds for the ineffective must be pronounced for the repose of his soul. hardly the action of a protestant!! After Henry's dying the Church in England went interior the path of the main turbulent situations: swinging violently interior the path of strict reformed protestantism decrease than Henry's son Edward VI, then on the instant decrease back to finished cohesion with Rome and finally caught a million/2 way between the two in an uneasy mish-mash which we call Anglicanism. in view that Victorian situations and the Oxford circulate, the Church of england (won't have the capacity to talk for the american church) has been slowly yet certainly hiking on board the Roman Boat. The Roman Catholic Church and the Anglican Church are close presently and revel in a quite heat and friendly dating.

No, Henry didn't create protestantism--Luther did. Henry created Anglican (Episcopal) in a break with Rome.

As for taking him seriously, turn the question around: How can Christians take themselves seriously seeing that the big guy (god) was an adulterer (with a married woman called Mary)?

While Henry was instrumental in declaring himself the head of the Church of England, Protestantism was beginning throughout northern Europe.

Henry wanted a divorce, and the Pope (who in addition to leading the Roman Catholic Church, was also another head of state) would not give him one. However, culturally, England was moving away from Roman control, and this move to create the Church of England took place in that context. And there were plenty of Popes who fathered children from their supposed "celibate" state.

If your morality is based primarily on whether someone lives up to sexual fidelity, you're in for a life of disappointment in a number of people you otherwise could admire.

No, protestant revolution was not his invention. Now the Church of England is a direct result of his actions. Immoral reasoning aside his actions did allow a break from Rome controlling monarchs so for some it wasn't necessarily a bad action.

the protestant faith wasn't his "creation". To answer the first question, I guess every religion takes their "leaders" seriously. That is where faith comes into play.

Yes you're right.
The Anglican faith anyhow, the rest was created by other greedy kings and princes who wanted full absolute power of state and over the faith of their subjects.
The tenets of protestantism were created by some not very emotionally stable monks and lawyers.
