If they are mean and evil, it means that they are not following in the teachings of Christ....Christ said that you will know a tree by it's fruit....Many Christians are simply thorn bushes boasting to be sweet fig trees.
Just because they think that they are a fig tree and have "faith" that they are a fig tree, doesn't make it so....It makes them look really foolish.

Because people like you describe are counterfeit Christians who have been sent by the Devil to bring reproach upon the name of Christ.
Another parable He set before them, saying: "The kingdom of heaven is like a man sowing good seed in his field. But while the men were sleeping, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat and went away. But when the stalk had sprouted and produced fruit, then the tares also appeared. So the servants of the master of the house approached and said to him, 'Sir, was it not good seed you sowed in your field? From where then does it have tares?' "He said to them, 'An enemy has done this.' So the servants said to him, 'Do you wish then that we should go and gather them up?' "But he said, 'No, lest gathering up the tares you also uproot the wheat with them. Leave both to grow together until the harvest; and at the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, "First gather together the tares, and bind them into bundles to burn them, but gather together the wheat into my barn." ' " Matthew 13:24-30
Tares are poisonous weeds that look just like wheat until it's time for the harvest and they don't produce any wheat.
"Then having dismissed the crowds, Jesus went into the house. And His disciples came to Him, saying, "Explain to us the parable of the tares of the field." He answered and said to them: "He that sows the good seed is the Son of Man. And the field is the world, and the good seed, these are the sons of the kingdom, but the tares are the sons of the evil one. The enemy who sowed them is the devil, the harvest is the end of the age, and the reapers are the angels. Therefore just as the tares are gathered and burned with fire, thus it will be at the end of this age. The Son of Man will send forth His angels, and they will gather out of His kingdom all things that offend, and those who work iniquity, and will cast them into the furnace of fire. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. Then the righteous will shine forth like the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He who has ears to hear, let him hear!" Matthew 13:36-43

Some are "baby" Christians, new, so they haven't "learned" how to be a Christian. Some just have a problem in that area, and it will take time for this, too. And then, maybe some say they are Christian, and really aren't.

because everybody is different and unique..even if you're a Christian that doesn't mean you're necessarily nice, unselfish and loving:) and even if you're bad Jesus won't come and chop you head off..anyhow "in this world of a million religions everyone prays the same way"

Can you really put a lable on just "Christians" who are selfish, evil and mean??
The world is so screwed up that alot of people act like this regardless of what religion they are.
True people of faith do not act like this. remember that!

Because Christians, believe it or not, are just regular people like everyone else. The only difference between Christians and the rest of the people on this earth are their beliefs.

and this surprises you? in what way? I don't understand, please tell me, I am an atheist, I don't believe in heaven or god or hell or the devil, but I know I am my own worst enemy, I will still try and show you respect and be decent to you, I won't threaten you or condemn you to hell, I have got no reason to, this is your life over there, this is my life over here, we can either be neighbors or friends or associates or whatever, or we can be two people who can hate each other and be mean and nasty and rotten to each other which in my eyes is very childish and immature, I see so many evil people claiming to have god in their life, I have seen this way to many times, the negative people that are in your life, get rid of them, stay away from them, as far as you can

This isn't an answer, merely an observation: Given the promises of their god, you'd think they would be happy. And happy people behave well (with few exceptions).
But the loudest believers are obviously miserable and ready to spread it around to the rest of us. I don't get it.

surely. It enables them to vent their anger in a fashion they mistakenly trust is socially proper. In concept, their own faith forbids them from judging us. i'm particular their Messiah, if he were the following (and actual) and if he became the guy marketed of their e book, he would locate an understanding and compassionate way of coping with us. VANESSA: How isn't blindly following your e book of regulations not questioning for ourselves? How are you questioning for your self through blindly following, as required, with out question?

Because we are selfish, evil, and mean... boy, do we need a Savior!
By the way, the traits of "selfish, evil, and mean" are in all of us.
