Based on the answers on this i am getting the impression that muslim men are extremely weak and cannot be trusted around women, thats why their women should wear a veil.
This is sad. I want a strong man who can control himself, not a weak one.

Well, I dont think that the purpose of veils is to protect themselves from men. Veils are put in the olden times to stop man from having the urge or desire for sex. In the olden times, when men just must have it when they saw pretty women, too much unfortunate events take place. Secondly the veil was used to protect them from the blowing of sand.
Seriously speaking, I personally think that in todays age,man cannot be trusted to protect women. Everybody have the responsibility to protect oneself.

Muslim Lady is wearing hejab( shaila, veil) not to create temptation for the men around.
It is benefit for her and actually it is only her choice.. In Quran it is mentioned to cover the body except face and arms for ladies. Some ladies are following this and it became already a cultural habit ( like in UAE, SA, Iran).
There are plenty of muslim countries where it is not must for lady to wear hejab ( like Morocco, Tunisia, Turkey,Egypt)..
Religious ladies who are deeply followers of Islam wear hejab..
Muslim men protect their ladies a lot. But at the same time being a men , hot blooded they will not have bad thought in their mind if see lady in hejab. In opposite to half naked european and american tourists can cause animal desire, which is not good as per Islam

It's to protect themselves from MEN in general and their perversion and to protect men from being perverted. it's also about honor and dignity and selfworth. why is it that non-muslims themselves call unclothed women "cheap"? did you ever ask yourself that question. Also look at nuns and orthodox jewish women..they cover as well why don't you criticize them? they are obligated by the laws of GOD to cover therefore muslim women don't do anything different from the other women. we just do it and you don't accept it even though it's a practice accepted throughout the world. also by women protecting the men the men will in turn protect them. it's 50/50. the beauty of islam is that everyone has a job to do. we all complete one another.

He is Allah(SWT) who has mentioned this in his holy book Quran to cover the women... there are many people in yahoo answers who say that muslims are weak.. and muslim men decided to bring this into practice to stop women from getting ahead.. but they are wrong..
Be impartial and think... if two girls of age 20 are passing from a road.. both are beautiful... the only difference is one of the girl is wearing black burkha and the other is wearing mini skirt and had tied a piece of a cloth in the name of top... and there is a group of boys standing at the road side who eve tease girls... who do u think will they select for eve teasing.. one in burkha or the one in small clothes..
i know i wont get ten points but.. i dont need it anyway.. go study ur own religion first becoz if i say something about ur religion u will be ashamed of urself..

Muslim women wear veils to hide their beauty and decency from muslim men. In truth, muslim men are weak persons who are very easily tempted by their sexual drives that cause them to do many evil deeds. These women do their part by preventing that, most of them unwillingly.

Women wearing veils is a pro-active action. Where as to have men protect their women is a re-active action.
Should we prevent sexual harassment or get harrased then get our men to beat the crap outta the other guy for harrasing us? You decide!

there is something called lust, it's inside every one of us.
seeing a nude body can't have the same effect as seeing a woman who is covered up .
in the west many many years ago .it was very indecent for women to show off their bodies, the ones who were doing this were considered w****s.

u got it wrong ..musilm women wear viels in front of muslim & non-muslim men,,,
it isn't%100 protecion,,,i mean he isn't gonna eat her if he saw her with hejab or even without!
so when the man marry her he'll be the only one who've seen her.
i don't wear viel but i know the point of wearing it. i just wear hejab.
